Video Maker question

can someone please tell me a cheap or free site to make a video with my pictures and we want to add a song to it.. sorry for the crazy question... but we just got home from a trip and want to make a video.. thanks.

If you are just using still pictures, Microsoft offers a free program called "Photostory". You can add pictures, music, captions and even voice if you want. You can download it off the Microsoft site. It's incredibly simple to use.

Second Photostory. It's also available (free) on CD at the Walmart photo counter. I'm pretty sure that version lets you include short video clips in it as well (if you want to do that.)

Very easy to use!

Most computers with Windows come with a program called "Windows Movie Maker". Fairly easy to make photo slide shows to music. Check you programs list & see if you already have it. If you use a Mac...there is a similar program (imovie I think??), but I'm not familiar with it.

If you have Vista or later, Photostory doesn't work and Movie Maker is no longer included starting with Vista SP1.

You can however download their combined replacement, Windows Live Essentials which has the new Movie Maker. Of course it is for Vista or Windows 7 only.

If you use Photostory that comes with Digital Image Suite 2006, a no longer supported Microsoft product, you can get it to work with Vista. It is a weird not available to the general public by download version of Photostory. This is the version Walmart includes also. I'm amazed they include a product discontinued years ago.

Regardless, it isn't supported and the same functionality is available in the new Movie Maker, plus lots more, and can output to modern resolutions that Photostory never could. Unless you are stuck on XP for some insane reason, upgrade to the new Live Essentials. (The new beta version is significantly better than the released version)
