VIDEO--Inside Starbucks on Main Street

To everyone who says its done get over it...it is done and one day we will but that doesn't mean we can't share our disappointment. I don't drink coffee so i don't understand how coffee makes what changes they made OK. I will really miss going in and picking something to sit and watch the parade. I have no reason to ever go in now my husband drinks coffee but it isn't end all be all. I would have been OK if they sold Starbucks but it is a starbucks. So i will try and forget what use to be but you guys won you got your Starbucks so just let us vent and give us time its been like 24 hours.

They sell more than coffee and there are other places to grab a snack along Main Street. None of that has changed.

I'm in the middle on this issue. While I like Starbucks, I have to agree with a few others and say they shouldn't call it MSB anymore; since it is first and foremost a Starbucks coffee shop now, and not a bakery. WDW had us believing that the MSB would be pretty similar as it was before.

Looking at the video (and I have watched it multiple times now), all the pastries in the display case are provided by Starbucks, as well as the coffee. Don't get me wrong, I will like grabbing a White Chocolate Mocha in the early morning, but it really is just a Starbucks using the MSB name. The theming is nice, at least WDW kept with that tradition. Maybe WDW should change the name to Main Street Coffee Shop. :scratchin

Maybe someone should video the bakery case after 11 AM to see what is available then since they are saying it's SB only before 11 and then a mixture after.

Like others, I can see both sides of this - MSB was never a family tradition for us, so to me, it looks great...still old-timey enough to be on Main Street USA. To those who DO have those traditions, the fact that those cases are filled with Starbucks baked products must be a real disappointment.

I am not a coffee-lover, but I do like their iced chai latte, and DH and DD both love Starbucks coffee products, so that are quite happy. I can definitely understand the disappointment, though. As far as changing the name to Starbucks, that just seems a bit silly to me...the corner ice cream shop only sells Edy's, but everyone seems to be OK with the current name of the establishment.

I agree. It would be interesting to see what kind of Disney baked goods will be offered at this time.

~Yes! Very well said -- I totally agree. When the announcement was first made -- everyone was told they were "stupid" and "read it wrong" and shut up because it's going to be just like DCA and turns out it's not. So, those who are disappointed have every right to vent. It's okay for people to complain about Avatarland and Fastpass Plus and Magic Bands but everyone has to remain silent about Starbucks??? Sorry, it's a two way street.

~And, comparing this to a place selling Edy's Ice is so ridiculous to me, it makes absolutely no sense. :rotfl2:

~Ugh.. I want no more of this -- unsubscribed....

I, personally, don't feel that it is okay!! If it happens then it is what it is and there is no need to complain about it. Especially something that hasn't happened yet!

However, I am very sorry that they're not going to serve as many of the favorite treats but maybe they'll appear somewhere else!!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I know not everyone likes Starbucks but complaining about it won't make it go away.

Just watched the video, looks very much like the rest of Main Street. Other than it being Starbucks coffee ;), it looks great.

:thumbsup2 I think people are seeing what they want to see here. The people who were SO against Starbucks coming into the park this it's "terrible" "looks like a Starbucks". The people who are pro Starbucks (including me) think it's a fantastic change.

I personally do have one advantage, in that I have absolutely NO sentimentality toward the "old" Main St Bakery. It was a shop - nothing more. People can attach memories and feelings but it's still just a shop at a theme park.

As for the people who think they should change the name to Starbucks, that is only because they are attaching their own feelings and memories to it. "Main St Bakery" is JUST a name, it's not a brand, a type of store - it's just a name. They can serve whatever they want in there.

It is very much like the location at DCA (not sure why people keep saying it's SO different - it isn't!) It's just that the DCA location is meant to have a different feel.

At the end of the day, I'm thrilled Starbucks is in the parks! Main Street isn't holy ground :lmao:

I don't think its really about people liking or disliking Starbucks. It's about how Disney portrayed itself in saying MSB wouldn't really change. That Starbucks coffee would replace the coffee they offered and you would still be able to get some of your favorite Disney bakery items.

Disney totally changed MSB and it is more of a Starbucks now then a bakery. Sure you can still get your favorite Disney treats in other places throughout MK, but now instead of the Disney treats being sold in the bakery, a good majority of the baked goods offered are Starbucks products. I think this deception is what has people upset.

Again, I for one am happy for the change in coffee. I am not happy that Disney said it would not be like your typical Starbucks when in fact the opposite is true. Just about everything in the bakery now is what you would find at your typical Starbucks.

If the seating had remained, I'd be perfectly fine with the change.

Frankly, as long as I can get some decent coffee I don't care what the place looks like, or what kind of pastries they sell. I am not really a Starbucks fan; I do have a serious Dunkin Donuts coffee addiction. However, when I am running out of steam in the afternoon I will be grateful to have a decent cup of coffee in the MK. My only concern would be the wait time. Considering the complexity of many of the drinks, it makes me wonder what the line will look like before the afternoon parade, because I have never been to a Starbucks where I did not have to step aside, and wait.....and wait.:rotfl: It will be interesting to get some feedback about wait times. People do love their traditions, so I can understand why some would be disappointed, and since they are selling the typical Starbucks food items at this location, the lack of seating is questionable.:confused3 I suppose you have to find an empty bench, or a wall to sit on to enjoy your goodies with your coffee.

~The integrity of the Main Street Bakery has been compromised. In contrast, the iconic Disneyland Jolly Holiday bakery remains untouched. Even the Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Cafe offers Starbucks as a welcome "enhancement" to their menu not it lieu of it. This is not the case with the Starbucks on Main Street.

It's unfortunate that you unsubscribed, but I want to point out a few corrections in the above statement from a DLR local.

1. The Jolly Holiday Bakery is not "iconic" to Disneyland. The Jolly Holiday Bakery opened 2 years ago...there was a bakery on Main Street (Blue Ribbon Bakery) that was there since opening that has since closed completely to make room for the Carnation Cafe's expansion. You cannot compare the MK MSB to the Jolly Holiday Bakery.

2. The Jolly Holiday Bakery doesn't sell Starbucks, nor will it ever. DL is adding a Starbucks, replacing their old coffee house on Main Street. Still not the same situation because it's a coffee shop replacing a coffee shop, so you can't compare the two.

3. The Fiddler, Fifer, and Practical Cafe is a Starbucks with a few separate items. The menu revolves around the Starbucks drinks and food items in a similar way that this new MSB menu does. It's not an "enhancement" to the menu...it is the menu.

I'm sorry people aren't all happy that this has happened, but after seeing the success that it's had at DCA, this was a clear business decision. From the pics, it looks like Disney did their best to incorporate Starbucks onto Main Street in the most fluid way possible. Perhaps, that won't ever be good enough for some people, but it could have looked a lot worse than it does.

Good lord. The place looks great.

Seriously, I just think some people can never be pleased. In all, it is a very good improvement. At least for those of us who actually drink coffee.

I've come to the conclusion that most of the folks here will never be satisfied with anything Disney does at the parks. Change is a good thing. This is a major improvement to the quality of the product and the overall Guest experience at MSB. It looks like a turn of the century bakery. Not a 21st century coffee house.

With all the "hysteria" on the boards about not being able to get their Cinnamon Bun "fix" - the photo is actually ON THE MENU. This is currently just soft openings so we actually don't know for sure if they'll have them or not. :confused3

I couldn't agree more!
