We have a 3 yr old and was wondering what you think of taking a video camera with you to WDW?

I want to take it but it is also another bulky bag to take.

Thanks for your help!

We took ours and did not regret it. I have all those special memories caught on tape. I put it in my back that I was carrying, and did not carry a separate bag for it. IMO you will regret not taking it. Have a good time.

If you have a 3 year old, then you probally have a stroller - you can just store it in there when your not using it. Don't take it to the park every day, maybe just once (on the day that your NOT doing to many rides) - the memories are precious!

Brought it used it half day and got tired of looking thru the camera at everyone else.I thought it was a waste of space. But that is just me.

And I was nagging my dh about this same thing. He spent more time looking through the camera than be *in the moment*. It was very irritating! I told him to enjoy his kids and this time while he had them or he'd have to watch that darn tape to experience his vacation! :sad2:

I say take it, use it moderately, and enjoy your trip.

I'm planning on taking my Flip Video 'camcorder.'

It's TEENY. It won't take video of her on rides while I'm on the ground (no real zoom), but it'll be great for capturing the excitement when we're doing things together. Plus, it's so simple to use I don't think I'll feel like I'm 'filiming the moment' instead of participating in it. JMO!

FWIW I took mine last year and only pulled it out once...for the spectro magic parade...I decided I am not bringing it this year. My daughter was 7 and my son was 10...I realize your child is only three and that might make a difference.

Either way have fun!!! :tigger:

Hey mine is 4 and this is our first trip as a family. When I posted earlier about bringing the camera that was just me and DH.I am still not bringing one.heck, I don't even use it at home ( I forget I have it) So I am definitely NOT lugging it around the parks. My digital camera and photopass for me:banana:

First I do have to say, my family is complete disney nuts. That being said, my kids what the promotional DVDs for WDW as a "video" like a Dora video. I was tired of watching other people have fun on vacation, so I completely record our vacations (and actually not the parades as much). When we get home, the kids will ask for a specific trip to watch. And we do watch them over and over. My kids even ask me during the rides if I am recording it, because they want to see it again.

I will say that, as the primary video camera person, I am behind the camera all the time. But having been there so many times, I really don't miss it. If it's your first time, I'd use it in moderation. Since to really enjoy WDW, you have to experience everything around you including the hidden mickeys, the moving spider, the talking parrot, that you may miss if you're too busy recording.

Going to Disneyland for the first time and probably the only time for a long while, my son has repeatedly ask to make sure I was going to record it. It's a pain, but my kids enjoy it so much I can't say no.
