Video and the Nemo Musical

For what it's worth;

Prior to my trip I read all the reports about CMs making people put their cameras away for the Nemo Musical.

When I was down there last week (sept 18), Not only did I find many people videotaping the show and shooting stills (without flash), but many of the videoers set up tripods in plain sight of the CMs. The CMs didn't seem to mind at all, and no one was approached.

Seeing this, I videoed some of the show, just enough to show "we were there" for my family video.

Again, take it for what it's worth. It was a Tuesday, and maybe the Tuesday CMs are more relaxed...

I took stills without a flash right in front of a cm, she looked my way a few times but never said anything. The only thing they say at the beginning is not to use a flash camera.

They may say something about a video camera, but it didn't pertain to me so I didn't pay any attention to it.

There were 2 announcements. The first was a live CM who ONLY referred to "No flash photography" like you heard.

The second, was a recorded announcement that said "no photo or video is permitted".

I think Disney may have altered their policy for the show a little (via the CM announcement) but kept the original recorded one also.

Guess I thought what the Cm was saying overrode what the recording said. Lol, either way, my pics sucked because I had my 2 yr old crawling all over me and couldn't hold still.

When we were there on 9/19, I specifically asked a CM if no-flash photography was OK ... he said, "Yes."

However, the recorded message still said no photography of any kind. There were lots of people video-ing the show, though, and no one attracted the attention of a CM....

I just read in another thread that it may have someting to so with most of the original NY actors leaving the show after it's opening. They may have had the no-recording in their contracts.

When I was there back in December they were extremely aggressive about no-shooting. I saw several people admonished when they prepared to take shots. It sounds like they've had a significant policy shift.

I might consider going back to see if for the chance to shoot it, but honestly, I didn't enjoy the show at all.

I'd love to see photos of the show if anyone would like to share. I know there are different cast members, so seeing different photos would be very interesting to me!

Yes. Primarily shot at ISO 800, if I recall.

It just goes to show how inconsistent WDW can be. I was there on Thanksgiving Day and they were back to the absolutely no photography rule. I saw CMs telling people to put their cameras away. Could just be b/c it was a holiday and it was a full house. The CMs seemed to be in a particularly bad mood anyway.

Early. I'm a morning person. I got up at 4:00 AM to check some data loads I had running the prior night. I wanted to work out any problems and then go for a run before the rest of the family got up.
