I was thinking about doing this for hubby next time we are in the world but I was wondering if I could take him here but me not eat. I am not a foodie (hubby is) I hate fish most meat won't eat onions or peppers or anything that tastes like them and the above listed things often make me ill particularily onions and seafood so it really is pointless for me to eat there at other sit down places it isn't an issue but with v&a would I have to send him by himself or could I just sit and enjoy a conversation with him while he eats? Also I don't like alcohol much at all and forgot To mention I also have problems with mushrooms so I'm sure you get the idea no worry I wouldn't touch anything on his plate! Ick! (personal opinion of course).

So will hubby be dining with no conversation or will I be able to watch him enjoy his surprise? He knows nothing about v&a as I am the sole trip planner and true disneyaholic Tnks!

I doubt that the answer would be "no", however I'm sure if you discussed some of your dietary guidelines the chef's could and would come up with something quite delicious that you would enjoy. Just a thought!

I don't have the slightest idea if you can just go in to watch while your husband eats. I would call V&A and ask. I'd think if you were in the restaurant you'd need to buy dinner.

They have a vegetarian menu and will also accommodate any preferences or medical concerns you have. Alcohol is optional.

You can't be worse than me lol. I made it through it I just ate the steak part which was very little. DH ate mine to. Trust me the portions are smaller than small. I did this for my DH on r 25th. And if I can do it anybody can. :rotfl2:
I was also told when I was there that a man had called ahead he just got chicken. The only thing is you still have to pay the price. If I ever go again I will call ahead a get a steak. Worth the experience and the look on my dh face.

they wont look at me funny if i request something super bland (of course before hand on the phone i realize)? I don't mind eating if it's something i can tolerate but i try very hard to not get sick/ickey at disney for obvious reasons! we just bought into dvc so i could have a kitchen when we go lol. too bad dole whips give me acid burns in my mouth or i would just survive on those for the week!... i didn't consider him eating mine too that could work he is an endless pit (and skinny to boot.... it just agrivates me so much! he eats his food and mine and half of our daughters and i still gain weight and he loses or mantains grrr).

I am sure you can request them to make anything you want, but I don't believe there will be any reduction in price.

I'm not sure of the answer--you should probably call V&A directly and find out for sure. My guess is that if you enter the restaurant and sit at a table, you'll be expected to buy dinner. Whether or not you eat any of it would then be up to you.

They will actually call you ahead of time to find out your likes and dislikes..anything you don't like will no appear on your menu! I would eat...you and your dh will both feel funny with you watching him eat, and you'll feel out of place with everyone around you dining...

I second this - it is your best solution to go ahead and call. Let them know your concerns and they will accomodate you better than any other restaurant could. I would guess the chefs would take you on as a challenge!

I have a mushroom allergy and was worried. However, they make each menu specific to the person. So while my DH had a lot of dishes available to select with mushrooms, mine did not.

I would really really really recommend giving it a try. I am a very picky eater and LOVED everything that was provided to me that night.

You don't have to get the wine option, if you don't want it.

I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try if I where you. The chefs are great and they will prepare you a dinner to your specifications.

I'd just like to echo the others here ... V&A is really good about working with guests who have dietary restrictions but you have to tell them when you make the reservation. I have Crohns disease and have to avoid things like seeds and nuts and the kitchen staff was terrific last fall about modifying certain dishes for me, even to the point where they were substituting bread options when everyone else was eating multigrain.

They are also really good about modifying things based on your dislikes, but again ... you have to tell them ... in advance. It's all about communication.

Agree with others here, call and talk to the staff; they're very accommodating. My wife can't have nuts or mushrooms, and they made sure the menu was OK for her. I'm sure they'll come up with something you can eat, and make it taste fantastic!

If I was your husband, there is no way I could enjoy such a lavish meal in front of you while you watch. That would just be too weird.

I am sure they can accommodate you.
