DH and I are going to try to get the Chef's table, we are little iffy about adding the wine because we are not big wine drinkers, at all. Actually, I think the only time I have tried wine when I had to cook beef burgundy for my French class. Then again plain water doesn't sound that great either. How is the wine?

The wine pairings serve you a LOT of wine. I wouldn't suggest it to those who aren't big on trying new wines.

That being said, however, you probably could try one of the suggested pairing wines for a particular course if you just wanted to try one.

I think trying the dessert wine is a good option, but if you want to expand your wine horizons, you can always ask the wait staff about which wines to try based on your experience (or lack thereof). They will be glad to help you decide.

If you aren't a wine drinker, the pairing may not be a smart move to do as the wines vary a lot in order to compliment the tastes of the food better.

You can get tea, coffee or soda with your meal also in fact those are included in the meal, or even a cocktail. Don't feel like that is the type of place you must drink wine at.

I would also agree with the other posters. If you are not a "wino", then the pairing would not be a good choice.

Israel Perez & Christopher Eisenlau at V&A will definitely take care of you if you want to try just one or two wines.

Furthermore, in terms of water....

The K-Man and I always go for Pelegrino Sparkling Water with large, multi course meals.

The Sparkling Mineral Water aids in digestion! SERIOUS! Trust Us, we KNOW all about large multi course meals!

When we went, I had water with lemon during the meal, then coffee with dessert.

I did have a glass of white wine during dinner, recommended for me for the course that was coming up next.

I love wine, but don't drink very often. I looked at the pairings and thought about it, but the meal is about 3 hours, and with at least 7-8 courses....thats ALOT of wine for me (I weigh about 120 soaking wet). I didnt want DH to have to carry me out, so I skipped it. :rotfl:

DH and I did the wine pairings at the Chef's Table and I did the wine pairing in the regular restaurant. We LOVED both and will never go without!! DH had cocktails at the restaurant. However, I wouldn't do the wine if I wasn't a wine drinker. However, I would do a glass or two suggested with the course....it adds to the experience!!

And yes indeed it was alot of wine. I passed out on the balcony of my room at BWV!!! It was wonderful!!

We've done the table twice, and felt no pressure to do the wine pairings. Agree with other posters, if you do not like wine, do not do the pairings. If you want to experiment, maybe only try a glass or two with a couple of courses. If there is something else you prefer with dinner, let them know. For example my grandfather prefers sweeter style "wines" and we teased him about drinking Sangria from a box. The sommelier didn't blink, had the bartender make some a couple fresh Sangrias that were great. FWIW.

Personally, I almost never have a meal without wine so I might be a little biased. :lmao: However, if you don't drink wine don't feel pressured to go with the entire pairing. Talk to the Sommelier and tell him you might be interested in trying a glass or 2 or if you don't have wine ask him what he would reccomend to drink. He may have some other options. I would strongly reccomend that you stay away from Soda or Coffee as it can cover up some of the great flavors of the food.

We actually have the Chef's Table booked for April 26th!!!

I don't drink wine, so water will do fine for me. I love the Vittel! :) My DH does like some wine. He tried the wine pairing in the main dining room a few years ago. Let's just say that I had to drive the rental car back to the resort. He was very, very tipsy! ;) He is planning on having just a couple of glasses of wine with certain courses.

Thank you for all of the recommendations. I would like to try a few but where I don't really drink very often at all, I am a little worried about passing out. A few glasses without the pairing sounds good.
