Victoria and Alberts - Chef's Hold?

Woke up early to get my reservation at Victoria and Alberts for NYE and the restaurant is not taking reservations because the tables are on the "chef's hold." Anyone ever hear about this happening?

I think it just means that either the chef has guests coming or doesn't want people in the kitchen on those dates for some reason.

Usually, a VP or General Manager has a ressie which may or may not occur.
