I know there is a thread, but figured for this question, I'd start a new one.
We are definitely going for our December honeymoon...Just trying to figure out if we should eat in the main dining room, or try and get the chefs table? Which is more romantic? Better experience?? I really appreciate any feedback. :hippie:

I've eaten there twice, once while on my honeymoon (the first day of the new millennium 1/1/00) and then this past August, and both times we have been seated in the smaller room with a fireplace. There are only 5 tables in this smaller room, and in December it will be very nicely decorated. I think that room is much better suited for an occasion such as a honeymoon compared to the main dining room. While the Chef's table would be really cool (especially if you are into the culinary arts), I'm not sure how it would be from a romance standpoint. Having been in kitchens during peak dinning hours, I would expect that it would be hectic and loud unless the table is actually enclosed in a glass room in the middle of the kitchen as I've seen some restaurants put it.

I'm not sure if the smaller room Gerows mentioned was turned into the Queen Victoria room. Victoria and Albert's recently added that as an option in addition to the main dining room and Chef's Table. It's $200 per person, with an additional (optional) charge of $95 if you want wine pairings.

IMHO, the main dining room is more romantic, but the Chef's Table and the new Queen Victoria room are for those who want the menu items that usually come as an upcharge on the regular menu.

If you are looking to break the bank, I'd try to get the Chef's Table. I have not done the Chef's Table at V&A's (one day when I have the money I hope to) but I have done a Chaf's Table elsewhere and the experience is quite amazing so I could only imagine that V&A's is unbelievable and would be a perfect addition to a honeymoon.

The Chef's Table is definitely not romantic. It is in alcove off the kitchen and had industrial-strength lighting.

The main dining room is definitely more romantic; it is somehwat dark (but not overly so) and there is a harpist with live music.

I have not yet tried the Queen Victoria room, but basically the menu there is the same as CT and again it is darker, quiet, and somewhat secluded. And as long as the connecting door to the main dining room is open you also will get the harp music.

I think the CT now is more oriented toward the foodie who is interested in watching a very high level resturant kitchen at work.
