Victoria & Albert's for 10th Anniversary! Need advice pls...

Hi!

Hubby and I have always dreamed of going to Victoria & Albert's, and now we are going for our 10th!!

Does anyone have any advice? I don't know a thing about the restaurant except it is supposto to be great. We will be going the last week of January.

Any tips??

Also we will need to put our son (7 yrs) in a kids club. Any advice?

We are staying in DVC Sar. Springs.

I don't have children, but I've been to V&A a few times so I can help there!

Let them know as soon as possible of any food allergies. I don't like nuts (not allergic, just don't like them at all) so I always ask for none ahead of time that way they can adjust my menu a little.

Dress nicely (they require formal attire - jackets for men, etc.).

Consider spending the day at GF - spa day maybe? We did a couples spa day (side by side massages, etc.) and it made for a very romantic day!

Plan for a long meal - it usually lasts 2-3 hours! For this reason, you might want to plan an earlier meal (these reservations go the fastest).

The menu will have a few choices for each "dish" for you to choose. I am a picky eater but always find that plenty (if not too many) of options fit my tastes!

Ask for coffee at the end of the night - they have a fabulous coffee contraption that brews the coffee in front of your eyes! So many guests are awed by this that the restaurant can even provide you with it's retailers information!

My husband loves their hot tea collection - they have some very special teas that you can't get elsewhere!

All women receive a rose at the end of the evening and the menus are given to you to take home. Then menus are specially printed with your names and event (such as anniversary). The waitress will take them off your table after your selections are made (all dishes are decided upon your arrival, before eating). Don't worry, she will return them to you before you leave (this is to protect them from spills).

Finally, don't fill up on bread! The food is TDF! Enjoy!

We just went back in April for our 25th. I am a very plan picky eater and made it through it. Really fancy food. I am a steak & macaroni person.
I am boring. lol It really wasn't for me as far as the food.
BUT my husband who I would base it on says it was the best experience of his life. He also did the wine pairing which he highly recommends. LOL I don't drink either.
I really did it for him cause he knows the food was so not me. And he couldn't thank me enough for supriseing him with this dinner of a life time.

I don't have any advice as far as the kids club I only used them on the Disney cruise and that was excellent!

We've eaten at V&A several times. I'm always cold here, regardless of the time of year. Maybe it's from sitting so long. They will provide cashmere shawls if you are cold but I always try to wear something that keeps me warmer.

Also, if you are planning to do any of the wine pairing, I would suggest taking a cab rather than driving!

Eat no more than one piece of the bread, even though it's the best bread in the world.

If you are a fan of beef, consider paying extra for the Autralian Kobe beef for the meat course. I am not a huge meat eater but thought that it was the best beef I had ever tasted.

There is a kids' club at the Grand Floridian. Here is the info that Deb from AllEarsNet.com has on her site:

Mouseketeer Club - Children will enjoy a visit to the "Mousekeeter Club." For a minimum stay of 2 hours or maximum of 4 hours, children may play video games, movies, games, and arts and crafts. The Mousketeer Club Cast interact with children during their visit. Pagers available to parents upon drop-off of children. Payment of pager deposit required. Children must be potty trained and ages 4-12.

Daily 4:30 p.m. - Midnight
Available to Grand Floridian Guests and Guests dining at the Grand Floridian; $11 per hour per child and includes a kiddy dinner. Reservations 180 days in advance at 407-WDW-DINE.

Since you're dining at the Grand Floridian, I would think this option would be the most helpful for you.

Agree, especially staying at Saratoga Springs. The Club at the GF would be very convenient.
Will you have a car? Riding a Disney bus all dressed up isn't my idea of fun. If not, consider a cab.
Ditto on the Kobe beef--I had it last time and it was wonderful.
And if you are in to wine at all, consider the wine pairings.
