Hey all,

I have reservations at V&A's on Dec 15th at 9:00pm. I am proposing to my girlfriend. I spoke to V&A and the offered to help with the proposal by bringing out the ring on a silver plater with certain decorations(some for a up charge). I am just wondering do you think should pop the question in V&A's during dinner, or do it before dinner on the beach at poly/GF/wedding pavilion.

I can't decide and I see pro's and con's to both. Any thoughts?

Hi, I think an engagement is a PRIVATE moment between the two of you and would be better on the beach BEFORE your dinner celebration at V+A. Maybe a bottle of champagne waiting at your table to toast your engagement. This of course is my honest opinion, only you know what your girlfriend would prefer. Joan

As a girl. I would say privately at the wedding pavilion the dinner would be more romantic . I would maybe see if someone could take pictures after you pop the question too. Good luck !! I wish you a lifetime of happiness.

Someone at the next table proposed at V&A while we were there having dinner. The restuarant is very quiet and so it was still a relatively quiet and private moment...particularly if your ADR is for a later time. I can't imagine much more of a romantic atmosphere for a proposal....harp playing, lovely food, service is impeccable. The other plus for this is you might be able to have one of the staff take a photo of the moment for you, which would be harder to do at the gazebo or on the beach.

Just my $.02.

I would prefer something more private, but as others have said, you know your gf best.

Another vote for private, but I agree about seeing if someone would be willing to take your picture.

If you do decide to go the route of doing it at dinner, I really like the Cinderella's slipper! I might even like that on the beach. LOL! Good luck, she sounds like a lucky woman.

I proposed to my wife at a very special restaurant where we had gone on our first big date five years prior. Of course the ring was burning a hole in my pocket so I didn't make it too long before I just had to pop the question. We both were so excited about just getting engaged that neither of us suddenly had an appetite (although we did down a nice bottle of champagne). We finally asked for all of the food, which we really hadn't touched, to be packed up for us to take home. In hindsight I wish I would've proposed in a different, more creative way earlier in the day so we had time to calm down and then celebrate the occasion over a romantic dinner at that special restaurant later that evening.

Good point.

I am excited for you just reading this, and a little disappointed my reservation is for a day earlier. ;) What an awesome setting!

I was recently at a fundraising event and a woman swallowed a diamond that was in her champagne glass. She had to go to the hospital. The story also made the news, so i also like the Cinderella's glass slipper option. Good luck

Another vote fora private proposal. I would not have liked a proposal in a restaurant or other public place.

For our 20th anniversary I arranged for a special event scavenger hunt at EPCOT with DH and the kids through Gifts of a Lifetime. They popped up out of nowhere to start things off. It was fantastic and the kids still talk about it.

I know they do things for engagement proposals too including pictures to capture the moment.

You can go to their website (just google Gifts of a Lifetime) and see what they offer. They will ask you to fill out a questionnaire and discuss your wishes to make it a personal event.

Perhaps you could do something with them at the Poly or GF followed by dinner at V&A.
(Just make sure construction won't be an issue.)

Whatever you decide, I wish you both much happiness!
