Vick's an Eagle..watch your beagle!

:sad2:
It is still a life. Maybe it's not as "important" as a human life when it comes to the food chain, but it is still a life. Have you seen the dogs? The ones that didn't have to be put down looked like ground hamburger meat!

Secondly, Stallworth is suspended for the whole 09 season. Without pay.

Our judicial system is seriously corrupt. Just because these men paid their time for the crime doesn't mean they served what they deserved. These men should be flipping burgers at McDonald's/BK, not making millions of dollars a year.

i dunno about "corrupt"(thats another thread) but i definitely think that our judicial priorities are a little out of wack.

Maybe not, but it's definitely screwed up. Money speaks, unfortunately.

I'm not trying to start a fight or anything, so please, pretty please don't take this offensive, anyone! (:

He's involved in dog fighting and gets years in prison. While another nfl player drives drunk and kills a man and spends a month in prison.

I don't know about you, but I'm more pissed about Stallworths whole thing than I am with Vick.

Dog fighting is WRONG, VERY VERY WRONG. I am a huuuuge dog lover. But a humans life is more important.

I don't see why everyone is making such a big deal, he did his year in prison and now he's back playing football. Good luck to him and the Eagles.

....I hope I'm not gonna regret posting this.....

ETA:

by the way, all I did was read the OP before I replied. I'm just now going back to read everyone else's replies.

Well off field issues aside you should be very happy with this pickup I no if Chicago would have picked him up i wouldve been happy.
Now you guys have the fastest team in the league you can run a Wildcat with Vick in the backfield which will give you a passing threat from both sides you can also slot him at receiver but now you have
Vick- westbrook - McNabb- Shady McCoy- D. Jackson
WOW

Let him play. The guy spent 23 months in prison (well, not all, but most). Yeah, I love dogs, but you've got to understand, this guy killed dogs, not people. I know for sure that there are at least two other NFL players that got charged with manslaughter (Leonard Little and Donte Stallworth). I think Stallworth got 6 months of community service and he can still play. Little was able to play also. People are making such a big deal over the Vick problem, and you barely hear anything about Stallworth or others that commited crimes that were on a much bigger scale. Flame me all you want for this, but it's my opinion.

Exactly. The man paid his debt to society. I just want to see him help his team win. Even though I'm a Raiders fan (OH YA! lol) I want to see him succeed

i'll probably get bashed for this, but i don't see what's wrong with him playing. he paid his time for his crime, it's done. let the past go.

haha..that's 'cause you have the alleged rapist, so there's no room for a dogfighter. :P
nah, we have six rings and that makes not enough room for him. =p

It's not that simple. When lives are lost, it becomes an issue. If you can't live without being a criminal while in the spotlight (like some pro athletes in America  ) you have no business doing anything but flipping burgers at some greasy joint. Maybe if the NFL/NBA/NHA/etc start cracking down on their athletes, we wouldn't have this issue.

I can guarantee you, if a pro baller killed someone/something that was close to you, it wouldn't be "let the past go, let him play".

Ray Lewis was also in trouble for assisting in a murder, but was never charged, even though he should have been.

Let him play... He paid his dues and he's admitted his wrong. Ever since the incident he's been working to help against dog fighting. It's not exactly his fault he did it. That's what he was brought-up on in his area and he was raised that dogs were used as a fighting tool to make money. He's obviously learned from his mistake or else Roger Goodell, Tony Dungy, and his psychiatrist would not have allowed him back in the NFL.

I'm so buying an Eagles jersey now.

I WILL NEVER BE A GIANTS FAN!!!! :snooty:
giants belong in the sewage! haha

plus..i can see philly from area..lol

but yeah..andy reid needs to retire. same goes to mcnabb. we'll be much better off without those two wackos. lol

correction: eagles belong in the sewage.
however, dallas should be a little bit deeper....

(die-hard giants fan, born and raised in giants country. i bleed blue. hahahha)

What do you mean it's not his fault? He DID have a choice as far as participating or not, and he chose to participate. Just because it's commonplace does not mean it's okay. Be the change you wish to see.

I live in the middle of the two "regions", so it's always a clash here. If you're not an Eagles fan, you're a Giants fan. Rare is the Jets fan. Personally, I used to rebel and liked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. My eyes have since been opened up to the Giants. ;)

No, he didn't. He was brought into it as a child. His dad was a well-known dog fighter in their area and he attended dog fights before he even knew right from wrong. He was taught it was right.

As if I didn't hate the Eagles enough, this just made it worse.
Like c'mon really? Do we NEED more bad news to this team?! They already suck lol.

It has nothing to do with the fact that he killed dogs, it's all about money. It pisses me off that my hometown team had to be the team to sign him. Ughhh it's annoying.

& I'm sooooo sick of hearing about this. Like I'm not even joking. Since he was signed, the first 45 minutes of the 5:00 news was ALL ABOUT HIM. Constantly reporting on him. There are other news. Argg.

I can't stop laughing at the title xD

I saw the quote on a protester's sign on the news :p

You're from Jersey. I don't think Philadelphia is your hometown.
Support your true team, the Giants. ;)

No, seriously though, I think the head coach is on something.

If I was closer to the Giants, I'd like them. xD Lol.

Andy Reid may not be on something, but his sons deff are&have brought bad publicity to the team already!

Okay, he was raised in it and his father was famous for it. Wouldn't he know it was illegal because he'd have to sneak around with everyone and hide it from the authorities?

Knowing something is illegal and knowing something is morally wrong is different. Obviously he knew it was illegal, but in his mind, it was alright to do because he was taught to do it. Look, I'm not saying what Vick did was right, because it obviously wasn't. But, he's been working with Tony Dungy and a psychiatrist and they're the ones who told the commissioner that Vick does regret what happened and his dog fighting days are over. He paid his price and now he's working to prevent dog fighting. He's paid his dues, so he should be allowed to continue to play in the NFL.

Yeah that's exactly right. And also, since Vick didn't kill any people I think he deserves a second chance. Then he can be a good role model for kids from here on out.

that is the most bs thing you have ever said, and yes, i remember when you told me that smoking pot makes you a safe driver.

i grew up watching my biological father come home passed out drunk on the floor for days, and then i watched him do lines of coke off the table with the ***** across the street. sure, he tried to teach me that was okay. but is it? no. if i was doing cocain, would it be okay just because my dad did it? no. nothing makes those actions okay, and nothing makes dog fighting okay. just because you grew up with it doesn't make it right.

I never said it made you a safe driver. I said it didn't impair you, which I used based on the experiences I had riding in cars with people who were high. Don't take my words out of context.

And you obviously didn't read my other posts. I never said it made it right.

Agreed. Mine isn't as horrific as yours, but I do kinda know what you mean. We're not terribly close to my dad's side of the family (talk about dysfunctional), but we were when I was younger. My aunt and uncle used to smoke pot all the time during the family reunions. I never knew what the "funny smell" was but I knew it wasn't like anything I've smelled. I recently learned that it WAS pot, and that was the reason behind the smell. I don't think they do it much anymore (aunt has a 6 year old now, uncle has HIV and has had 3 bypasses by the age of 36) but just because it was "normal" doesn't mean it was acceptable, on any level,

Alrighty then. I'm hoping that was a one-time thing, otherwise I'd have to say "WTH were you thinking?!". Just because your friends weren't terribly impaired doesn't mean that pot doesn't impair you at all.
But, I think we've already been over this so that's that. (:
