Just returned from a business trip to the US via Canada, I drove to Toronto from US and flew BA home, unfortunately Canadian immigration at Lewiston bridge and at Airport did not remove the visa waiver, last time this happened I was castigated on my return to the US by immigration,[I should have checked but thought it had been taken out automatically] As we are going to WDW in two months I want to avoid this. I am sure I read on the boards of an address you can return them to in the UK.

Anyone hav ethe info?

This has happened to us on no less than three occasions. We have never bothered to return the slips and have travelled back numerous times with a new Visa waiver form. No-one has ever said anything to us at the USA customs desk..

It has happened to us too with no problem on a return trip. I know it technically can cause difficulties though, so it might be an idea to call the US Embassy to see if there is anything you can do about it just to be sure.

There is a section on the US Embassy website about what you need to do.

It is possible, despite others posts, that you will be refused entry because according to their systems, you have overstayed your previous 90 day period.

This isn't going to cause any problems for you. What happened to you happens to 20-25% of all Brits.

The US immigration folks are still not doing anything with the I-94 forms they get from the airlines for departing nonimmigrants.

They are collecting electronic airline manifest information and matching that up with entry information for the same individuals. Since the airline recorded your departure (it’s required by law), immigration has a record of you leaving on time.

Would it make a difference that I flew in and out of Toronto and drove in and out of the US?

Chris,

I don't think it will matter. The second time that we bought the visa waiver slip home was when we travelled via Mexico into the USA. I wouldn't worry about it at all. I know lots of people who have inadvertantly bought it home.

I bought one home in 1998 and have been loads of times since with no probs.

Wheezie

I know someone who this happened to and he had major problems getting into the US again.. for several trips.

Personally, whilst it will probably be fine, I would do whatever you need to do, just to make sure.
