Which is a better bet Via Napoli or Tutto Italia? This WILL sound snobbish, BUT, please answer ESPECIALLY if you are from the New York City area and understand NYC pizza is the worlds best (yes even better than Italy!) NYC area folk usually truly KNOW what great Italian food is (I am now under my desk hands over head waiting for the Chicago and 'what do you know?' etc. insults to pour in) :duck:

Ps. If you think commercial Italian chain restaurants (you probably know the ones I'm thinking of) are 'good' Italian food, well.... what can I say?? A typical crispy full crust NYC slice, with that perfect cheese and impossible to describe flavor are, well, impossible to describe.

Well, if you are stuck on NYC pizza then I'd suggest you try Tutto Italia. Don't expect to be blown away there either. For the best Italian food on property head over to Il Mulino at the Swan.

Thanks, but were on the dining plan and dont have time to travel to the S/D anyhow. Thx fpr your opinion

From NYC and Via Napoli has good pizza. Not like NY slices, but decent sauce and dough. I like tutto italia better, but if you want pizza Via Napoli isnt bad. The chicken parm was awful at Via Napoli.

Actually I just looked at the menu and wondered, how does the dining plan work at Napoli or Italia when you order pizza? Is that considered an entree or is it an entire meal or what?

An individual pizza is an entree. You can’t use your credit to get a larger pizza.

I'm a 40 y.o. born and bred New Yorker and there's more dreadful pizza here than anyone wants to admit. Most "slice places" are such letdowns these days it's not worth the calories. Great neopolitan style places like Totonno's though, that's a different story. Via Napoli is fine, and is more towards that style, but it doesn't come close to the best NYC has to offer. The ingredients were fine enough but the crust lacked char and was floppy. I would go to Via Napoli again and our kids liked it, but as an earlier poster said you may find disappointment if your expectations are extremely high.

I’m from Jersey, we have an Italian family in the area who has the best pizza shop ever. I won’t ever like a pizza more than theirs but I know that so I’m not disappointed when I get it elsewhere.
I also looked into Via Napoli for our upcoming trip but I ultimately decided on Tutto Italia. My reasons- kids can still get pizza (it’s on the kids menu). It’s a better use of a dining credit and I can get pasta, meat, or whatever I’m in the mood for at the time (not limited to just pizza). I’m not expecting it to be on par with our local Italian places but I’m sure it will be a nice meal :)

If you're trying to be frugal, Via Napoli is fine - if paying out-of-pocket. The extremely large pizzas provide value, relative to most Disney Qwik Serve establishments. But you will not be 'wowed' by the pizza if your are a NY'er (like me).

Tutto Italia really is not bad at all.

So, if I were using the Dining Plan, seems like the opportunity to have a plate of food versus 'just pizza' makes the decision easy - Tutto Italia.

And to offer an additional option - look at the menu for Trattoria al Forno (Boardwalk is near Epcot).

My grandparents are from Naples and I've lived in NYC and the immediate surrounding for 20 years, so, here's my two cents - I would skip Tutto Italia. Via Napoli has better pizza, but it's not the best deal on the dining plan and, other than pizza, the menu is quite limited. Personally, I would leave EP out of the IG entrance (between France and UK) and eat at Trattoria al Forno for dinner instead. Better food than either Via or Tutto. As others have said, Il Mulino is the best, but it won't work on the DDP. Honestly, if you know and love good Italian food, none of these restaurants will do the trick for you. Maybe ditch the Italian idea and do something completely different? When we're in EP, we typically go to Spice Road Table!

If I didn’t have terribly picky kids I would totally choose that too!

Lol! If that's the case and you have a little extra time, I would definitely consider Trattoria al Forno on the Boardwalk. Plus, around 7 pm, they start the entertainment on the Boardwalk (jugglers and magicians). My DS10 gets a kick out of watching the shows. If you like ice cream, skip dessert and go to Ample Hills!

I know, I heard good things about it and I would like to actually stay at Boardwalk in the future. We’re leaving this weekend so all my ADRs for this time are planned...
I’m already looking at June for another trip though lol...if I end up going then it may just be me and the kids for that one so I’d probably try to hit up the Boardwalk area on our Epcot day. Focus more on exploring for that trip. And of course my kids love ice cream!!!

Why waste your time on Italian at WDW if you're already convinced you live in the cradle of Italian food excellence? You're only bound to be disappointed.
Boy, isn't that the truth!!! I wish that could be an auto-response for everyone who asks the question.
Same with the east coasters who complain about WDW bad lobster rolls. Why order them? YOu know your are not going to like them!! :teacher::headache:

We ate at Tutto Italia two weeks ago. It was our first time- I got the salmon and DH got a special which was grilled chicken and pasta with Alfredo sauce. Salmon was very good and I tasted his which I thought was tasty as well. We got drinks too and they were good I just forget which ones haha. I’d def go back!

I work in NYC. I like both Tutto and Via and think the pizza is good. It’s actually better at Via than Naples45 in NYC (same owner as EPCOT Italy restaurants). We are going to Via in May.

Yep!! As a Marylander I’ve learned to not bother ordering crab cakes anywhere else, and not to subject others to my complaints about them if I ever were to. Problem solved!

I cringe when people say the are going to Red Lobster. Then I remember they are not from New England. But I also cringe at RI lobster roll. Give me hot buttered lobster on a toasted New England style bun...oh.., I think Lenny and Joes is calling my name! I forget which resort has/had a lobster roll, maybe the Poly. He pictures make me gasp!

As far as Italian, I am half, my DH is not at all about 5-7 yrs ago we got a GC for the Olive Garden and we didn’t have our kids that night. So we went and were both disappointed. I mean we had gone while dating but since I make my own *gravy* and meatballs he said nothing compares to mine .

And I made reservations for Via Napoli for the first time ever! My son is dairy allergic and is now able to eat cooked cheese, much to his dismay. I have heard mixed reviews but mostly good and a local friend of mine said it was really good. So just lie NYC, CTers have certain pizza standards too!
