Via Napoli really that good?

We went there the last time we were in WDW and we’ve booked it for this Christmas period too. One of only a few re-bookings we’ve done so it must of had a positive effect on us.

We have eaten there twice and both times it was very good. Will definitely go back.

Their non pizza options were average at best. The pizza was good, one of the better ones offered at WDW, but incredibly over priced ($40 for a basic pizza serving 2-3 people). Now, we rarely dine there as there are so many other options we prefer. You won't get a bad meal there, but doubt you will be wowed as well.

For Florida pizza, it is decent enough. Better than what many WDW places used to call pizza.

As someone else noted, we think the pizza at Blaze is better, and it costs less.

We recently thought the food at the Trattoria al Forno was also better Italian, including pizza. It is just a short walk from via Napoli at the Boardwalk. The lasagna was very pretty. We were seated near the pizza over and saw many delicious looking dishes beyond what we ordered. If you can get a table at Via Napoli, I suggest it as a viable alternative.

One more interesting option is the soon to open Simply Capri. The same guy that opened Via Napoli, Nick Valenti, is about to open this off-property Italian restaurant in Flamingo Crossing development. It should open soon. A bonus is that they plan to offer a late night menu! WDW lacks quality late night options, so this could be a big plus for anyone with transportation.

Vai Napoli is run by the Patina Restaurant Group. They are part of an American company called Delaware North. Delware North provides food for many stadium sports venues, casinos, airports, some hotels.

The Patina Group is also an American hospitality group that started as a coffee shop chain. They have a long history of providing food to museums and catering events like the Academy Awards, Emmy Awards starting in LA. They merged with an East Coast company, and now run assorted themed restaurants around the country. They run Space 220, Tutto Italia, Morimoto Asia, The Edison, Pizza Ponte, Taqueria, and Tortilla Jo's, plus a few other Disney venues.

The pizza is decent, way over priced. Being from Boston, I am spoiled with great restaurants. I am also biased since I make really good pizza, thin crust, rimmed with olive oil for crispness, fresh 3 cheese blend, and fresh veggies toppings.

I don't necessarily agree with the pizza being overpriced, at least in terms of WDW. It's one of the better deals there. $50 for the biggest pizza was more than enough for our party of 5 adults and 2 kids. And we can usually share the personal pizza between 2 people easily.

$50 for the basic. Add one topping and see how much it is.
