Via Napoli question

Born and raised on Long Island (land of outstanding pizza) but now living in the barren pizza wasteland that is North Carolina...

To give you an idea of how the pizza is here in NC, I once called the local place and ordered a "large pie with pepperoni"...there was a pause, and then the girl on the other end twanged back at me all confused "Um ma'am, we don't sell pies here."

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: So true!

We do have two good pizza places in town - the owners are both from NY. ;) We used to have three, but one closed - also from NY.

Are the pizzas splittable? We are a family of 3, thinking of splitting pizza & salad if that's doable?

We have been eating at Via Napoli at least 2xs a trip since they opened. And we average 2-3 trips per year. It has been consistently the best food we have had on property. My husband grew up on Pepe's pizza in New Haven CT and since we never get there anymore Via Napoli is filling his pizza cravings. And the pepperoni pizza is to die for! We almost never order anything but the pizza but guests with us have. People have always enjoyed what they have eaten. My mother still raves about the chicken salad with the melon. We have always told people to go here and it is our favorite place on property to eat.

Now the sad part - Disney restaurant inconsistency strikes again. We went in December and had the worst meal there. We were shocked. We do always ask for the pizza to be well done. What we got was gummy almost raw in the middle. I ordered my normal dessert - the Ugly but Good cherry sundae with a side of chocolate sauce. I got 3, yes 3 tiny blubbery sized, yes that small, cherries on top. :confused3 I had to hunt to find the cherry syrup because at first it looked like it was not put on. My side of chocolate sauce was approximately two tablespoons of chocolate. (I'm a baker so really it was that little) Someone was using a super light hand that night. :( It was very sad.

Going back in April. Asking them to burn our pizza and to go super heavy on the cherries :rotfl:

Yes - unless you are on the dining plan. Sharing dining credits isn't permitted, so only individual pizzas are available on the plan.

Do you think the arancini and an Individual pizzA is enough for 2 adults to share for lunch? Or should we share an entree instead of the pizza? Also thinking of maybe getting the ricotta fritters.. Thanks!

That's a shame but not a surprise. Chalk another one up to wdw appealing to the lowest common denominator

For once I agree with you. I will have to ask them to make sure to cook my pizza correctly when I am there in October. The char is one of the best parts of the wood burning ovens. Stupid change in my opinion. So sick of that sort of thing happening.

I do, unless you're big eaters. My mom and I ordered a large to split and could only eat two pieces with 4 left over (breakfast for 2 days!) We didn't get an appetizer or dessert, but shared a pitcher of sangria.

I have a hearty appetite and can put down some food, especially pizza. The wife is a light to moderate eater. To put into perspective, if you take a 16" pizza, I could eat about 3/4's of it and the wife would eat the rest. It's hard to tell how big the large pizza is at Via. Would a large be enough for us 2? Is it about equivalent to a 16" pizza?

We ate there once for dinner January of 2013.

We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and it was the toughest calamari we have had in over 20 years (seriously), and we eat it quite often at other restaurants, and it's almost always excellent.

DH ordered spaghetti and meatballs (how can they mess that up). The pasta was fine. He said the sauce was very salty, and he is a salt-a-holic.

I ordered the eggplant parmesan. I thought it was good, but it was only 2 very thin slices of eggplant. I know the prices for food at WDW are high, but come on, how much does an eggplant cost?

Yes, I think so, but a THIN crust. It serves 2-3 according to the menu. Add an appetizer, adult beverage and/or dessert and you should be quite full!

You'll be able to see the different sizes as you go to your table. For my family of 5, we ordered the metro mezzo and gelato. We probably could have eaten more pizza, because it was just so good, but would have been in a food coma!

I was wondering about the individual pizza, if anyone knows how big it is?. I'm sure the large would probably be too much for us, it says it serves 2-3.

Seems like it is about 10 inches or so. I finish it off easy enough by myself, don't think it would fill up two people unless they were very light eaters, it's a very thin crust.

I think with an app and dessert that would be perfect for us, thanks!!
