Via Napoli question

I got a laugh of reading the stubborn people posting no offense just funny you are dead set on making it work for and good luck with that :goodvibes

Even if there is a bar in Via Napoli, I don't believe they sell pizza by the slice.

and first off: FANTASTIC pizza, excellent service. That's the good news.

But the Bad news for take-out pizza fans: there is no easy way to get a Via Napoli pizza to-go. Not even a particularly good way to take more than one slice of your leftovers, for that matter. The Via Napoli left-overs box is just a standard 8.5 inch square foam box like all the other restuarants and the interior of the box has sloped sides, of course, so it's more like 6" square compartment...really bad fit for carting pizza, unless you do have just one piece left. They do not have any actual American-style pizza boxes...our waiter said Via Napoli does not have "the paper carry out boxes" just the "foam leftover boxes."

I asked if they would ever get the special pizza boxes and the reply was "no, we will not: we do not have the carry-out serving here, this is for the eating at the table in the restaurante."

We actually had just over 1 whole individual left over...1/2 of husband's and slightly more than 1/2 of my individual pizza. We had to fold each 1/2 pizza over like a sandwich & stack our folded slices to fit them in here. Here's some pictures, outside & in, of the foam left-overs box. We had already eaten 3 pieces by the time I remembered to take a picture, but what's left in here is 1/4 of a personal-sized pizza...this individual slice measured approximately 5.5" x 6.5" (it's the prosciutto e melone personal pizza...absolutely delish, by the way) It's hard to see it in the picture, but the pizza slice is actually a little curled up: when I first put it in the box, the pizza slice exceeded the base of the box, so as it cooled, the sides re-shaped to the fit of the box...the piece looks smaller than it actually was because of the curled sides.

Our waiter had no problem bringing us the foam box, but he was pretty adamant that they would not offer a better to-go box because "Via Napoli is not a take-out serving restaurante, sorry"

Oh Pooh, looks like it will be Boardwalk pizza on our early night!

Even if there is a bar in Via Napoli, I don't believe they sell pizza by the slice.

They do not sell pizzas by the slice, and when I was there I did not see anything resembling a bar, everything was tables and by reservation only (no room for walkups when we were there).

The wait for the pizza was pretty long, and our waiter definitely informed the couple sitting next to us that ordering food and taking it all home was not an option. They asked for several takeout boxes to do the fold-a-pizza thing and the waiter was only willing to provide one for each of them-- the manager also explained that the restaurant is "not a to-go establishment." While I suppose it's your right to be able to carry out your leftovers, the restaurant is apparently not blind to the plans of people to try to treat it as to-go and they are apparently trying to prevent that.

So good luck to those planning to try to pack up a few pizzas.

didn't pay attention to whether or not there was a bar as such...there is a very, very long communal table down the middle of the main seating area...has to seat at least 30 people? Is that the bar?

While we waited for our table, I also heard people being told all seating was by reservation, you had to put your name in because they did not have any open seating area. We did specify that we wanted a table for two, not the communal seating. However, just like majority of Disney restaurants, the tables for two are just split up tables for 4 on the banquette style seating...so the table for two next to you is only about 1 ft. away from your table. Close enough the folks who were seated about 15 minutes after us at the next table asked us, course by course, what we had ordered and then they ordered the same, lol. The guy told his wife they needed to follow us around Disney and order what we order, because we obviously know what's good, :rotfl:

As for whether or not you can take a whole pizza out in a leftovers box, well, yes you actually can fit one individual size pizza in there. That's exactly what we had...1/2 of hubby's and 1/2 of mine. It fit, and actually came out of the box later just fine. We had the prosciutto &melon, and the quattro fomaggio (4 cheese) Neither of these has any tomato sauce on them, so there's no drippy sauce. The cheese pizza had cooled enough that it did not stick to itself when hubby folded it...and mine had the ham on top, so when folded it did not stick to itself either. The trick may be to wait until it's cooled to room temp before attempting to fold. Both pizzas tasted great the next day...I thought the melon might not do well since we actually got it Saturday for lunch, then took it back to Boardwalk & put it in the fridge...then put it in the car in a cooler with ice for most of the day Sunday...took it out when we got back to Tampa condo & zapped it for about 60 sec. Sunday night. Made a great dinner, though...the melon was fine even with the reheat. The crust was a bit too chewy, but still tasty.

Now there is NO WAY you're getting one of the large pizzas out of there in a couple of foam boxes. The large size is supposed to serve two people...it is unbelievably HUGE. The people next to us got that. Would have taken at least 3 foam boxes to cart that bad boy out.

It's nice to know a piece or two will still pack away nicely for breakfast the next day! :goodvibes
