overpriced and over hyped for what it is and supposed to be.
I've only ever ordered the Margherita there since I'm a bit of a purist and want to taste the pie closer to naked.I’m from the North East so I’m kinda a pizza snob (although I will admit that Dominos can do the trick for a late night snack)... but IMO Via Napoli is great pizza for people who can’t get good pizza in their everyday life.
It’s good, just nothing spectacular. The melon and prosciutto is not to be missed.
The style they are doing is Neapolitan style pizza, the hallmark of which is crust that can be folded without cracking AND which is supposed to be eaten with a fork and knife. It is 100% authentic in that respect.
OP, the pizza is fantastic. Fresh, high quality ingredients, and minimal ingredients at that. Nothing fake. The cheese is fresh mozzarella so it is a different taste/texture than processed mozzarella. That type of cheese gives off water when it melts which contributes to the soggy factor, which is also why they don't put a lot of cheese on the pizza.
...
I have found that people who don't like it are simply not aware of what Neapolitan pizza should be. If you go to Southern Italy, this is what pizza is like there.
Neopolitan pizza should have charred spots on the crust, it should not be completely pale. They either do not bake the pizza long enough or hot enough to get any color whatsoever on the crust, and that is my problem with it. I am in NYC and have eaten plenty of Neapolitan style pizza.
ITA. It is quite different from "regular" pizza that is typically served in the US. My 16 yo D likes it "just ok", but I absolutely love it...so much so that I sought out Neapolitan pizza after I got home from WDW after eating it the first time. DLgal, I don't know if you live close by, but we just moved from OC to Michigan, and there is a little restaurant in downtown Fullerton called Fuoco that also sells authentic Neapolitan pizza and it is amazing... we used to eat there all the time.
The day my budding pizza snob DGD ordered from the window she took 2 maybe 3 bites from her slice and asked if she could throw it in the garbage. I said fine and we wandered further around WS until we found something edible.Does anyone know if the pizza is the same in the restaurant as the window? My fiancée and I had it at the window the last time we went and it was awful! I’m originally from New Jersey so I’m a pizza snob. What I tasted was the plainest tasting pizza ever. Also advertised as a margarita pizza, but was just a plain slice of pizza.
This thread motivated me to go to Downtown Disney in Anaheim yesterday and pick up a large pepperoni pizza from Naples. I brought it home and had it for lunch with my son. I get to have the leftovers today! So good!!!
On a related note, I wonder why the pizza at the Via Napoli window is different. That makes no sense to me. At Disneyland, the TS restaurant (Naples) is right next door to the CS (Napolini). They bake full pizzas at Naples to sell by the slice at Napolini. The restaurants are connected inside. Why can't they do that at Via Napoli?
BothIs the pizza actually, truly good at Via Napoli or does it get recommendations because people think it is a reasonably priced meal for the family?
