Via Napoli pizza- good tasting or just good value

I’m from the North East so I’m kinda a pizza snob (although I will admit that Dominos can do the trick for a late night snack)... but IMO Via Napoli is great pizza for people who can’t get good pizza in their everyday life.

It’s good, just nothing spectacular. The melon and prosciutto is not to be missed.
I've only ever ordered the Margherita there since I'm a bit of a purist and want to taste the pie closer to naked.
Still if they had a clam pie...I'd be allllllll over it, LOL.
Errr with no disrespect I think the Domino's is dulling your tastebuds ;).

Good pizza. Not just "good for Disney" pizza, but GOOD for anywhere pizza.

I had been eyeing a Big Green Egg grill for YEARS. Never bought one due to the price........ and the boss saw the price tag. We ate at Via Napoli and while we were there I made the comment that the Big Green Egg could bake a similar style pizza. Two weeks later we were at a place where they sold the eggs and my wife suggested that I buy one. We have been enjoying wood fired pizzas similar to Via Napoli at home ever since.

Late to the party, but.....We LOVE the pizza at Via Napoli!!! Cannot wait to get back to it in October!

We love Via Napoli and make a reservation each time we are in Epcot. I'm from PA (outside of Philly) and are accustomed to this style of pizza. Just love it. Love it, love it.

The style they are doing is Neapolitan style pizza, the hallmark of which is crust that can be folded without cracking AND which is supposed to be eaten with a fork and knife. It is 100% authentic in that respect.

OP, the pizza is fantastic. Fresh, high quality ingredients, and minimal ingredients at that. Nothing fake. The cheese is fresh mozzarella so it is a different taste/texture than processed mozzarella. That type of cheese gives off water when it melts which contributes to the soggy factor, which is also why they don't put a lot of cheese on the pizza.

...

I have found that people who don't like it are simply not aware of what Neapolitan pizza should be. If you go to Southern Italy, this is what pizza is like there.

ITA. It is quite different from "regular" pizza that is typically served in the US. My 16 yo D likes it "just ok", but I absolutely love it...so much so that I sought out Neapolitan pizza after I got home from WDW after eating it the first time. DLgal, I don't know if you live close by, but we just moved from OC to Michigan, and there is a little restaurant in downtown Fullerton called Fuoco that also sells authentic Neapolitan pizza and it is amazing... we used to eat there all the time.

Neopolitan pizza should have charred spots on the crust, it should not be completely pale. They either do not bake the pizza long enough or hot enough to get any color whatsoever on the crust, and that is my problem with it. I am in NYC and have eaten plenty of Neapolitan style pizza.

Hmm...the times I have been to Via Napoli, my pizza did have charred spots on the crust...that was actually my D's least favorite part, lol...but I love it!

We are kind of far from Fullerton. We live in Irvine. We have a fantastic place called Angelina's Pizzeria Napolitano here. It's great! But Naples at Downtown Disney is only 15 min away too! There are a few authentic Neapolitan pizza places here these days. They are popping up all over. I'm not complaining! We also live about 10 min away from the BEST NY Style pizza in the state (according to Yelp...it's #1 for pizza in CA). It's how I remember pizza from when I lived in NJ as a kid.

Does anyone know if the pizza is the same in the restaurant as the window? My fiancée and I had it at the window the last time we went and it was awful! I’m originally from New Jersey so I’m a pizza snob. What I tasted was the plainest tasting pizza ever. Also advertised as a margarita pizza, but was just a plain slice of pizza.

The day my budding pizza snob DGD ordered from the window she took 2 maybe 3 bites from her slice and asked if she could throw it in the garbage. I said fine and we wandered further around WS until we found something edible.

I didn't taste her pizza so no opinion from me but we have eaten pizza in the restaurant thus I assume it was somehow not the same. Maybe it sits around until it needs to be re-heated? Don't know just a Sbarro/3 Brothers/ Famaglia type guess.

One of the best Ive ever had...and Ive had A LOT! Im now hooked on Neapolitan pizza and all others suffer by comparison.

I'm an Italian from Brooklyn. I grew up on the best pizza.

I do not like fresh mozzarella on my pizza and at VN there were no other options.

The time I went it was way too thick and "gloppy"

We always enjoy the pizza at Via Napoli. Since it is just my husband and I, we get a" build your own" large. He gets what he likes on his half and I get what I like on my half. It works great, is always good but I can barely breath when we leave because I am so full :) I usually get an ADR between 2:00 and 4:00 so it becomes a late lunch/early dinner. After all that pizza, I am done eating for the day. Time to walk the countries!

This thread motivated me to go to Downtown Disney in Anaheim yesterday and pick up a large pepperoni pizza from Naples. I brought it home and had it for lunch with my son. I get to have the leftovers today! So good!!!

On a related note, I wonder why the pizza at the Via Napoli window is different. That makes no sense to me. At Disneyland, the TS restaurant (Naples) is right next door to the CS (Napolini). They bake full pizzas at Naples to sell by the slice at Napolini. The restaurants are connected inside. Why can't they do that at Via Napoli?

It is truly one of life's great mysteries! It would seem to make too much sense to do the same at Epcot and sell slices from the full pies as they do in DL. We actually decided yesterday to do a trip to DL later this month the 21st-23rd, and Naples is already on the menu!

Here's my philosophical take on pizza : If you were raised in New York, Chicago or within an Italian family, you are never going to find pizza that was just like the pizza at "_______________" (fill in the blank). However, Via Napoli is good pizza. I also enjoy their eggplant parmesan, which is definitely not like my mothers, but good. The pizza is baked in a stone oven....it's going to be different from a restaurant with a modern Pizza Oven. It's still good pizza. Enjoy!
