Via Napoli pizza- good tasting or just good value

There really isn't much at Disney that I would qualify as a VALUE. We don't factor that in when choosing oir meals. Via Napoli is good pizza. It isn't the best in the world but it is the best in Disney World. We haven't had a bad meal there.

The style they are doing is Neapolitan style pizza, the hallmark of which is crust that can be folded without cracking AND which is supposed to be eaten with a fork and knife. It is 100% authentic in that respect.

OP, the pizza is fantastic. Fresh, high quality ingredients, and minimal ingredients at that. Nothing fake. The cheese is fresh mozzarella so it is a different taste/texture than processed mozzarella. That type of cheese gives off water when it melts which contributes to the soggy factor, which is also why they don't put a lot of cheese on the pizza.

The pepperoni pizza there is the best I've ever had. I visit their CA restaurant here in Downtown Disney Anaheim (Naples/Napolini) at least once a month. They sell the pizza by the slice here and it is consistently the best Neapolitan pizza I've ever had. I grew up in NJ and this pizza is another level good.

I have found that people who don't like it are simply not aware of what Neapolitan pizza should be. If you go to Southern Italy, this is what pizza is like there.

I love the pizza at Naples in DTD at DL, it is delicious and a must do for us. Sadly, that is not what I got when we went to Via Napoli, to say our pizza was soggy is an understatement, it was no where near what we have gotten at DL, and we have eaten at Naples countless time. I have heard that Via Napoli has much more of an issue with consistency, so we are giving it another try in July, but I was really disappointed in what were were served vs my expectations.

Aww...that stinks! I've eaten at Via Napoli six times total and it has always been good for us. I imagine, though, that they do a LOT more business than Naples so I can see how consistency can be an issue over there.

I thought it was just OK, but not as good as the average off-property pizza place. Not an especially good value, either. I'd skip it next time.

I consider myself a pizza snob (grew up in the New Haven area, live in NYC) and I thought it was delicious. My only regret is that I didn't get the prosciutto and melon pizza that my friend got, as my salmon one was good but not as good as hers. I think part of why I like it so much, though, is that it is a similar style of pizza to what I grew up eating. If that's not the kind of pizza you like or are used to it, ymmv.

We love the pizza there and it's a hit with all the different age groups in our family. The pizzas have been cooked perfectly when we've had them, in the style they are meant to be cooked in and to the correct doneness. I could see if they were in a hurry how a pizza might be undercooked, but so far, so fantastic. I do think it's important for people to realize that it's not meant to be the style of pizza served here in the USA before they go there, if that's what they want, they should head somewhere else.

I thought it was both quite good and well priced (not using the dining plan). I'll be booking an ADR for my August trip next week.

I think it’s fabulous. I try and go twice every trip... once for pizza and the other for spaghetti. Lol.
OMG this is me too. ha ha! I love both their pizza and pasta...so naturally the only logical way to have both is to visit Via Napoli twice during your trip. Lol.

And FWIW, I normally pay out of pocket. Its been years since ive been on the DP.

The pizza is great... i never thought about the value.. i suppose its a good value because me and the boys can share that big pizza... regardless.. GREAT PIZZA! IMO!

I don't care for Neopolitan style pizza. I don't like the small amount of toppings or thick, chewy charred crust. You have to be a fan of the style.

I'm from NJ and can be a bit of a pizza snob. I've been known to get wings from one place and drive to another place to get pizza if I don't like the wing places pizza. It's that serious to me.

With that said, I LOVE VN. Last trip we did it twice. Once with an ADR I made 180 days out and the other ADR I got for a few days later. My SO and kids raved about it and we all agreed we needed to do it again!

LOL I recommended VN to my aunt and uncle for their last trip so they made an ADR and got pizza. They loved the pizza made another ADR for a few days later to do the pasta. They said the pasta was even better.

Its the best way to do it! Its a tough call, but if i had to pick between the two, i'd say the pasta is my fave as well. Candele, OMG! So good! :cloud9:

We LOVE VN pizza. We are also huge Philly pizza snobs, and think VN is some of the best we've had. My DH loved the pepperoni, I liked the prosciutto and melon (although his pepperoni was even more amazing), and my picky kids ate every bite of their cheese pizzas. This has become a must-do for us and we can't wait to go back.

VN might be my favorite pizza on the planet. It definitely is DD15's favorite. We have been there at least 6 times and never had a bad pizza. Poor service, usually, but never bad pizza. I do wish there was a size between individual and large, though. DD and I share and one individual just isn't quite enough, but a large is too much.

I am sad we don't have a trip to WDW planned for this year, but I am beyond excited to try the pizza at Naples! I had no idea there was a restaurant similar to VN at DL, but when I asked for recommendations on the DL board someone told me. OMG! Can't wait!

Naples is actually better than VN. It's undergoing a major renovation to add an outdoor bar and some new pizza ovens, but will remain open throughout. Actually, almost all the TS restaurants at Downtown Disney are owned and operated by the Patina Group, and they are all amazing (Catal, Uva Bar, Tortilla Joe's, Naples).

Agree with everything written here, although Naples is my favorite (I love good pizza), all are excellent options.

Naples is our favorite as well. Tortilla Joe's second, Catal/Uva third. The Paella at Catal is fantastic!

We have our first reservation for VN on our upcoming trip. DS15 does not like the flatbread pizza at WDW. I don't know if its the thin crust or what but I am looking forward to eating at VN. Fingers crossed!
