I've spent most of the day on the phone to Virgin Holidays.

To cut a very long story short, we've been trying to book UC on our inbound flight for Apr 08. I've rung them loads of times but last Wednesday was the day that I was told that they were finally going to book them, or so I thought...

Eventually get through today to be told that they are full on the day we wanted. I suggest extending the holiday by a day or two. No joy - all full. They then say, "oh, 4 seats have just become available on the day you originally wanted (as if by magic), do you want them still". Time was of the essence and so he quoted the total extra. I needed to make a snap decision so I agreed. Whilst he goes off to confirm them I compare the costs to my original calculations - it was almost £700 more than I was expecting. I query this and get a full breakdown of the holiday cost. What he had failed to tell me was that the cost was not as quoted in the brochure and that Virgin Atlantic couldn't sell them seats at their contracted rate. If he'd have explained this properly and fully, I wouldn't have agreed as there is a limit to what I am prepared to pay.

I am currently waiting for a supervisor to ring me back.

Any comments or suggestions welcome ....

Lets hope the holiday will be worth all the trouble you have had. :thumbsup2

We spoke with Virgin twice two weeks ago & we felt that they could'nt wait to get us of the phone & that was to ask a question and get a quote.

hope that your not waiting to long for the reply so hang in there. ;)

Personally, while I can sympathise that it appears VH have 'messed you about' somewhat, I think the solution is simple. You are either prepared to pay the amount they want to charge for UC or you're not. If so, then book it - if not, then stick with economy or PE. Not wanting to sound harsh at all but I can't see that you've amny other option.

Decision made - we're not prepared to pay the higher cost so are returning in PE instead. You are right, it is a simple choice, but one I was never expecting to face. One good thing though, we'll have more spending money now!

And that's always a good thing :thumbsup2

As there are only 14 UC seats on the planes to Orlando VH usually only get 2 at their 'reduced' rate and any extra they have to 'barter' with VA to get. Unless VA do a special offer then it is likely oyu would ahve to pay more than the 'advertised' price for the UC seats. PE is nice as well and to be honest once we ever go UC I fear there will be no return!

I wish they had explained that to me at the time of booking. It's taken 5 months of phone calls to reach this point! Anyhow, we've decided to stick with PE. I am sure it will be nice. I've just reserved seats on the upper deck so hopefully it will be quiet and we stand more chance of getting some sleep. It'll be the kids first night flight so we are keen to make it is a comfortable for them as well as us. Fingers crossed no more problems.

Yes upstairs is lovely on the Orlando flights and you should get a far deal of peace and quiet :)

Claire ;)
