VGF1 or VGF2 if both were available

Hey everyone. I’ve read through many of the threads and I can seem to get a handle on if people will prefer the original studios or the new resort studios.
We travel with just 2 adults so the extra bed in the middle of the room would just be taking up space. We also really like having the kitchenette. We would hands down pick the original studio.

If both types of studios were available at your 7 month mark in your preferred category, which one would you pick?

I would chose the deluxe studio in the original building. The only time I will book the resort studios is when I could be traveling with others but not sure at the time of booking.

I like the couch facing the TV but have to say the new rooms are quite nice.

We bought a modest add on for the resort studio option. These points will almost exclusively be used for short 4-5 day girls trips. No need for a microwave (rarely use it), never wash clothes on vacation and certainly not on a short trip and the beverage cooler will be fine to keep our drinks cold. Two real beds are a plus and we don’t watch much tv on vacation not worried about it’s placement either.

The bulk of our points where DH and I vacation together or bring family or friends will be in 1-2 bedrooms but at more point friendly resorts.

I think it depends on your guests, as you mentioned. Those 2 showers in the original studio are quite attractive, but 2 queen beds (not just the couch) are also nice in the resort studio.

I usually travel with my mom and having the two real beds would be great, but I would still choose the deluxe studio and sleep on the pull out couch (I really never have any problem with them in studios). I really don't care where the placement is of the TV and guessing most can see it anyway in a studio.

We like the microwave and use it and the mini fridge. If the resort studios had the microwave, I would book it to try it out but as of now, I would only book the deluxe studio.

Resort studio. Bought to have 2- 4 nights in the MK area ahead of our usual 1 bedroom stay at the BWV. Not expecting to have trouble booking it at 11 months, even for early December. For that amount of time, all I need is a coffee maker and reliable wi-fi (jury still out on that last one). :)

Deluxe studio with fridge, microwave, table and couch facing TV . I know I can use the vanity as a desk/table but I think I'd feel like I was working/eating in the bathroom. Since I currently travel solo, I don't like the unused second bed taking up all of the floor space.

Getting the murphy/sofa bed in the Deluxe studios pretty much takes care of that issue for me. Now no need to have the space constantly taken up by 2 beds. It's a more flexible design since it can be left up if you don't need it or if you did need it and wanted it always open you could do that too.

I plan on using the resort studios for traveling to RunDisney events with a friend so no one feels like they are getting a "lesser option" (the Murphy beds are definitely nicer, but still not the same). I'll use the deluxe studio for when I travel with my husband.

Original Studios are a long walk to get coffee in the morning, Resorts Studios are much closer, that is my husband's complaint :rotfl:

I clicked 'like' and then remembered that when I was there in 2019 they had the fancy coffee machine in the lobby VGF1. Is that still there? I still walked to the quick serve but with my coffee in hand (for free). And this may be old news as I haven't read the whole thread yet.

And, I'll book according to number of people and availability to try them out. But I'd rather have a 1 bedroom anywhere.

Last we stayed was Dec 2020 and I do not recall coffee in the VGF1 Lobby, we just purchased the refillable cups and walk to Gasparilla Island Grill for our morning wake up.

Too bad. Now that my old mind has cleared enough to remember the name, it was a Nespresso machine similar to AKL club level lounge. If it's gone glad I got to enjoy it at least one trip. GIG is a nice walk in the early morning.

The loss of the coffee in the lobby is tragic. That made VGF feel extra special compared to the other properties. I wish they would bring the coffee machines back.

We probably lean towards VGF1 deluxe studios while our daughter is young but could see the two beds being more appealing during her teen years. Having said that, we were able to get a resort studio in Dec when the deluxe studio was unavailable so we are excited to try them.

Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts. Seems to be split right down the middle.

On a selfish level, I was hoping for more families with little kids would gravitate towards the resort studios so more deluxe studios would open up. I guess time will tell.
thanks again!

I expect that coffee machine may return. Its absence was out of pandemic caution, I think.

VGF1 was obviously shortstaffed when we were there in November. As a result, I wasn't surprised that it was still absent.

More distressing for me was no penguins fountain. It was surrounded by potted palms and undergoing cleaning and maintenance. I missed my penguins terribly! 😰

Egad! With a coffeemaker in the studio, we're not about to pay for the refillables and have to hike to Gaspy's.

Gevalia is vastly better than Joffrey's, and I can brew it to my preferred chop-off-a-chunk strength. ;)

Given that I don't get civilized enough to go out in public without having had at least one cup, hauling our favorite brand is essential.

With very little kids I would have picked the deluxe studio. That second queen bed is important space that the toddler can’t really use. But I can definitely pop the pack n play into the deluxe studio space quite easily.

Now DD is 6, she wants the resort studios for the chandelier and vanity and the queen bed (so she doesn’t have to sleep on a Murphy bed and feel “less than”). The unassailable logic of a 6 year old.

Personally I’m indifferent between the two. But we are a family of 3 and have used a microwave exactly once during our Disney trips. I’ll book whatever’s available :)
