Hi all,

We are staying for the 1st time since buying VGF in March 2015. We booked a Studio for 10 nights. There will be 3 adults and to kids (9&11 boys).

Was wondering if the studio will be too small? Not sure how large the bed that folds out from under the TV is. I guess one of the kids can sleep on that.

We spent very little time in the room. We are usually gone first thing in the AM for rope drop and often the last to leave the park.

What does everyone think?

That would be waaaayyyyyyy too many people in so small of a space for 10 nights for me. Then again, it's been many years since we did the "left at dawn, return at midnight" routine. (Actually, we've never done that.)

Frankly I'm stressed-out just thinking about such cramped living quarters for a week-and-a-half. When on vacation, I need a little space / privacy and room to unwind. That's why we bought DVC in the first place.

If all we did was sleep in the room, I'd have gone for something much cheaper than Deluxe / DVC. YMMV.

IMO it will be small, especially for a longer stay.

Since you don't stay much in your room, does it matter?

You can stick with your plan, learn from the experience and adjust if necessary for next year or do a split stay and have 2 vacations this vacation.

for 10 nts wow! I guess you won't unpack just live out of your suitcases because there's no where enough storage for 5 people let alone 2.
good luck

I would never have even considered this. Since you did, you must have thought it was possible. :crowded:

At this point, I would try to get a studio anywhere for at least 1 adult.

Way too many bodies in one room for my family - you will literally be one top of each other. We bought DVC when our kids were the ages of yours so that we could have more space and book one bedrooms when we vacation at Disney. Our family has happier vacations when we can spread out and have some personal space.

On a happier note, your kids should sleep fine on the TV pull out bed. My 15 year old is 5'6" and weighs 110 pounds and can still sleep on it comfortably.

Obviously, it can be done, and not being in the room much will help. That being said, there is very little storage room in the VGF studios. The Murphy bed takes away all the drawer space that would be there, so you are left with one drawer under the bed, 3-4 small cubicles in the closet, that very small closet, and almost nothing else. You do have a split bathroom (a shower on one side and a shower/tub on the other), but only one bathroom sink. The room is lovely to be sure, but I can't say that you'll be comfortable. Brace yourself for a tight fit.

We are checking in tomorrow with a family of 5, yet my kids are much smaller: 2,6,8. We debated about switching but decided this will probably be our last chance to be all comfy/cozy in one room as we prefer the studios over the larger deluxe rooms b/c we can fold up the couch for more space. Our plan has been packing cubes for our kids clothes and we plan to utilize the area at the foot of the bed to keep those. I also brought a super skinny closet shoe hanger that is narrow. We packed a lot less than normal and plan to do laundry. We are also driving so we can keep unnecessary items and packages in our car. Just get creative!

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. We were originally only planning to have 2 adults and 2 kids but there was a last minute addition to our plans , another adult, and my wife really wants to stay at the VGF. I tried to get a larger room at VGF but could not swing it.

May try the split stay idea. Will have to look into it.

I think we will be tight but we will manage. after all, we are at Disney and will spend all the time outside of the room. We will just be there for sleeping.

I like the storage in the car idea because we will be driving and have that option.

Same here. We've booked a VGF studio for 10 nights next October - 2 adults and 3 children ages 16, 14, and 11. We've stayed together in a Poly room and were fine, and although this will be tighter I'm sure we'll be okay.

We did give the children the option of more space in a 1 bedroom for fewer nights or 10 nights in a studio and they unanimously voted for the studio. If we find it too squished we'll go for a 1 bedroom next time as we'll have added more points by then.

I will try my best to take some photos of any storage ideas we use this week with the 5 of us and post them.

We will stay at VGF - studio - lake view in February for the first time. There will be 3 of us this trip.
Two in the bed, one on the sofa bed. Thought of using the Murphy bed for our luggage since there does not seem to be storage space.
Living out of the luggage -
Think this will be fine for us !

So we checked in today and it is not nearly as bad as I felt people were saying. We stayed last night in the new VWL studio and yes, it provides a smaller chest of drawers, bigger closet and storage drawer and coffee table but not a split bath. There are pros and cons to both. So far our ebags packing cubes have been a lifesaver. We used one drawer for my husband's ebags cubes, the other drawers I got out half way and put two of my enaga cubes in it. The hidden storage door at end of bed, we slid the kids large LL Beam duffle with ebags cubes in there. Easy. My husband moved the Pack n play to top of closet, so shoes on floor in there. We hung up a few jackets and clothes and used the cubbies for kids shoes, and our pullovers. The extra space in the entry we put the suitcase unpacked and a few other bags. No problem.

I hadn't heard of eBags packing cubes before so I looked them up. They look so useful! Amazon in the UK seems to have a pretty good range so I'm definitely going to be ordering some.

I used packing cubes for the first time on our recent trip. Made re-packing a breeze for our split stay and everything was kept neat and organized. This tip was found on DISboards and much appreciated! (We didn't have space issues. I chose to store them on the shelf in the closet. Purchased a few colors of cubes so it was easy to select the one I wanted from the shelf.)

I will have to say I love the bathroom at VGF! Felt so open and spacious. Plus the room with the trey ceiling feels same way. The bathroom at WL was cramped in the actual toilet/bath area. Three things they could do to make things more functional. Get the same storage coffee table set up as wilderness lodge, get a nice stick vacuum, and put pack n plays in concierge area to be requested.

You can pull out the ironing board and put that in front of the lock off door to act as a suitcase stand and put the pack in play in front of the lock off dorr as well. Shoes and/or case of water can be placed under the ironing board. This frees up more closet space, so you can use the suitcase stand inth closet

Thanks for sharing.. I'm feeling a lot better about it...

We just got back from VGF, and stayed the same time (10 days), and had the same approximate aged boys---and we were FINE. I heard the same comments before we bought into VGF about the Studio's, and I personally think they are greatly over-exaggerated.

First of all, we didn't pack a 'full' 10-days of clothes anyhow, as we used the Washers/Dryers every couple of days--so that cut down on our luggage. We used the drawers underneath the queen bed for storage, the 'cubby' at the lockoff (use a luggage stand), and the shelving by the Murphy Bed. We closed the pull-out couch each morning, and still had more than enough room to get around. There is also ample space in the closet, which we used for our dirty clothes pile, and all hung clothes.

I really get annoyed with some of these replies always scaring people off from staying 4-people in a Studio. I don't know what some people do on vacation, but we are at pools, parks, enjoying the GF, seeing Disney, etc---and not really in our rooms other than to sleep.
