VGF Resort Studio Lagoon view question

I currently have a Resort Studio lagoon view room booked at VGF. While researching possible room requests I came across the standard view turret rooms. I have a few questions on these:

* If I have a lagoon view booked, can I put in a room request for a standard view turret room? Will Disney even consider the switch of room classes?
* Do the standard view turret rooms all have balconies?
* If I can't request the standard view turret room, are there any recommendations for room requests for the lagoon view resort studio rooms? I have heard some rooms may not have balconies so a balcony request would probably be one I'd want to make, but I'm not sure if there is any other recommendation.

Thanks in advance.

Do the standard view turret rooms all have balconies?
None of the turret rooms have balconies - the turret (from the interior it's like a bay window) takes the place of a balcony in those rooms. So if a balcony is a priority for you, that makes your other questions moot. However, to answer your first question, a booking category is a booking category, and if you want to switch from the Lagoon View category to the Standard View category, you need to cancel LV and rebook into SV.

In a previous post it was mentioned that only the 5th floor turret rooms are without a balcony, and that the turret rooms on lower floors do have balconies.

Definitely has a balcony.

Its the area to the left in your pic, see how it doesnt have any glass doors right there? The rest do as they are normal rooms.
I guess I will piggy back on the question regarding lagoon view rooms may not all have balconies. This would be the first I have ever heard this, but I plan on staying in a lagoon resort studio room in February. I hope that the previous poster heard wrong about that room type, but need to ask veterans who know the layout better. I will be a newbie to this resort as have only dined there previously. Thank you for any assistance you can share.

IOW, the balconies for those turret rooms are to the side of the turret? My bad, I thought the turret was the width of the room, thus taking up the “outside” space that a balcony would occupy for a given studio.

Could that be where the elevator is maybe? Only thing I can think of as im pretty sure the balcony is wider than the room based on the video. Room goes a little wider than the balcony door but not enough to cover the whole thing.

I can remember seeing only one photo from inside a turret studio, and it seemed that the bay window/turret area extended the width of the room, and was effectively blocked by a couch that faced the inside of the room. I don’t know what floor that room was on, though.

At any rate, I didn't know this was a thing until today and now I wanna stay in turret room at some point!

Yes, after I saw the photo I wanted to stay in one too, but I want to turn the couch around to face the window! :cutie:

I found this photo which shows the turret rooms well. Now it seems clear that there is a balcony that comes out of the side of the turret in the lower floors, but no balcony on the fifth floor. This picture also shows how its possible that some of the 5th floor rooms are not going to have a balcony. 52D7DE9D-B028-474C-A94E-EE222D3870DB.jpeg

Ok, we've visited many times, thinking of staying 1 or 2 nights this Spring or summer. So what view am I looking for if I definitively want a balcony? Does anyone know when the construction is scheduled to end? Thank you!

I'm so excited- my wait list can through today for Thanksgiving! We're staying in grand floridian resort lagoon view for the first time!!

Any type of room request that I should make? I feel like any room there will be great!

Do all rooms have a balcony? I would definitely want a balcony.

I see what you mean, assuming that’s a door opening onto the balcony, which would make more sense than being just a window looking onto that balcony.

Yes, it’s definitely a door. I’ve seen a video posted on DISboards showing the person walking out that door onto a long narrow balcony. Lower floor turret rooms have a balcony. Just the 5th floor turret rooms are lacking a balcony.

That makes them even more attractive to me - the bay window plus balcony. Too bad we don’t really like studios!
