We are traveling with friends in September. We are booked at SSR and have waitlisted VGF. Friend researches everything and said she read that there is construction noise at VGF from the construction at the Poly. I'm wondering two things. Has anyone here noticed this (I tried searching to find the info and couldn't find posts about this issue)? Also - when will construction at the Poly be done?
Thanks so much!

Hi Famcruisefun,

I live very close to WDW property and am on property pretty often, including going over to see friends that are CM's at the VGF. I have never noticed any noise from the Poly's construction at all, and I've been at that location in the last week.

I guess it depends on what type of room view. We just stayed at VGF last month in a SV 1BR and never heard any construction noise.

The noise we did hear was from a couple of wedding receptions. Also, we could hear fireworks (Wishes) even with our balcony door closed.

Overall, we found the rooms to be very quiet.

We were at the Poly for a week at the end of April and didn't hear any construction noise while there. The horns for the ferry boats is another story.

I don't think it will be an issue. Even when they were building the bungalows at PVB we didn't notice noise at VGF.

I recall reading some people staying at VGF hearing noise from the Poly when they were rushing to finish all the work at and around the lava pool area. They were bringing in all kinds of trucks and working around the clock. This was just before PVB opened and they were behind schedule.

Based on reports, it seems the majority of work at PV will be at the other pool area. This will be going on until winter 2016. Guesses range from January-March 2016. Even if they are behind with this work, I doubt they will work around the clock. Prior to the PVB opening, there was a reason to get the work done for the first impression. Now, the first impression with PVB is over so they should be more concerned with the guests than rushing to be open by a certain date.

Is it possible your friend is just trying to find a reason not to stay there (point cost)? Ignoring the point cost, unless you plan on spending all your time at DTD, I would definitely stay at VGF.

Stayed at VGF a few months ago, lake view, staring at the Poly bungalows, and we heard nothing from the construction. As another said, boat horns yes--but, they were faint, and we actually enjoy their sound. If you can swing VGF, it's a lovely resort convenient to much.

We just spent 9 nights in a Lake View 2-bedroom May 15-24 and I never heard any construction noise at all. I did hear ferry whistles and could occasionally hear the train in the Magic Kingdom.

Previously we have stayed in a standard view at VGF and did not hear any outside noise at all.
