VGF going to $165/pt....WOW

Just got an email from DVC that says VGF is going to $165/pt.....incredible. If you've been thinking about adding on there, now's the time!

I am fairly new to DVC so excuse my ignorance.. but is this an email everybody should have gotten? We never received anything. Our home resort is VGF and this concerns me a little. DH and I have thought about adding a few extra points and will definitely do so before the June date to lock in the lower rate. We are staying a week in Sept at 2BDR AKL and throwing in a little get away to VGF end of Jan with the points.

Getting emails from DVC are very hit and miss. We'll have short spans of time we get them and then we won't. Just when I think there's some reason we don't get them then we get one again. Same thing with mailers. I remember with BLT they did more mailers about the price and promotions but we haven't received much on any properties since then. These boards tend to have the information before most people every get it - if they ever do.

You have to live in a jurisdiction where legally DVD is allowed to advertise timeshares and you have to acknowledge that you want to receive sales mailings.

Go to your DVC account and select your preferences, I would also call your guide and ask to be put on his/her list.

:earsboy: Bill

I think it depends on your guide, the state you live in, and what you've stated interest in. I know that when I say I have zero interest in something, I seem to get less stuff. If I click on an informational link in dvcmember.com, I may suddenly start getting offers. It's basically DVC's version of a junk mail list ;)

Is our guide the dvc rep who we signed up with? Is there a way of editing my options on what email I get etc?

Generally, your guide is the person you originally signed up with, or originally spoke to. If you bought resale, they randomly assign you to someone. As a pp stated, in order to start receiving DVC mail, go to dvcmember.com, access you account, go to my membership > my profile and click on the link to update your contact preferences. You should start receiving the information you requested (unless you are not allowed to receive solicitations in your state).

Great, thank you. We bought directly through DVC. I am in Florida and all my preferences indicate what you stated above.

What we got was the email that claimed we should buy VGF or Aulani now at the discount prices that exist because they are going up June 24, and it gives you the new prices. Though $165 sounds shocking, be prepared for at least one and possibly two more price increases for VGF before Poly goes on sale so they can then sell Poly at a price that is below whatever VGF is at the time, and thus convince new purchasers that Poly is being sold at a discount; that is the sale tactic used for VGF before it went on sale -- over a period of about 18 months BLT went up $40 per point from $120 to $160 in four increases so VGF could initially be sold at a seemingly "bargain" price that was below BLT.
