VGC has an Open Date

I am very surprised that they'd decided to open the hotel after the parks. It seems that if the parks are open the hotel should be safe enough to be open. I thought they had a legal duty to open DVC to members as soon as it was safe?

It says they should be closed only as long as is reasonable to ensure health and safety.

I think it would be hard to argue that 6 days after parks isn’t reasonable.

I guess I think they have a duty to open it before the parks--i.e. like they've done in WDW. I believe hotels in CA can open on Friday.

Gotta look at government orders. It doesn’t matter if they can, just whether there are legal orders in place that allow them to stay closed,

From my reading of the POS,, all that is required is a state of emergency...if that is in place, then they can use the emergency powers clause,

Since I don’t pay attention to CA, I don’t know what that is or is not in effect. It is like FL...many timeshares didn’t shut down, but DVC did because they could.

Even FL is under one until July 7th.

I've tried to follow CA's orders, but they are all over the place. I believe we are still under a state of emergency. I don't have my POS with me as I'm in Tahoe, but I suspect there was a similar clause in ours that would give them some discretion. The reality is that there are also a lot fewer of us owners in CA to complain.

The problem is that VGC doesn’t have its own check in. Everything is through the hotel, which isn’t opening until after the parks open

I wonder if it's because park demand will be super high?

Sigh - well that explains why my 7/14-7/15 and 7/15-7/17 reservations were all cancelled. My re-booked 7/16-7/17 seems to be holding on, but I expect it to drop off anytime. I was not expecting it to be open anyway, but I really would have loved a day or 2 away (even if no parks) and was hoping resorts would open first. And of course no availability for any dates for months. Guess I will look forward to my November reservation there. Or maybe I will put in a waitlist or 2 for a few days in August or September. Just kind of disappointed since this was booked 11 months out specifically for the anniversary (like every year).

Same could be said for resorts at WDW. Boardwalk and BRV use the hotel front desk. Same for Poly. BLT has a desk, but I recall checking in over at the Contemporary. Jambo uses the hotel front desk as well. Trying to remember for others, but most others it really does not matter.
