I am sorry but they are absolutely wrong. A recent study by the AVMA determined there is an excess capacity of 20% of Veterinarians and growing. Your being blown away by what people spend is a clear indication that the "average" person has little interest in spending a reasonable amount (compared to the time, effort and cost of care) on their pets. As this over supply begins to impact Veterinarians on their bottom line they will have no recourse but to cut costs and the greatest cost to ANY small business is payroll.
