I'm a veteran. My dad was a vet, and i received his flag when he passed. Does anyone know if it's possible to use his flag when they present the flag at my funeral when I pass? I think that would be a rally nice way to link my dad and i. Is there any kind of etiquette that goes with that?
Thanks,

I checked some sites on flag etiquette and none of them indicate that you could not do it. Most indicated that any honorably discharged veteran is entitled to a burial flag. The funeral director, as part of the services, will make the necessary arrangements for the family on behalf of the veteran. The flag may be used to cover the casket and it is presented to the family as a keepsake. The local office of the Department of Veterans' Affairs can also provide information on the procedure for obtaining a flag for a deceased veteran.

If you wanted to use your father's flag and it is in appropriate condition for display, I'm sure the funeral director could make the arrangements for its use. You may want to make sure this desire is known by your family.
