My husband is a veteran and we have never used any of the benefits available to him. His PA license has his veteran status on it, what else would he need in order to get veteran benefits? Thanks, Linda

Check out the website militarydisneytips.com--he provides all of the current info concerning Disney & military.

Are you looking for discounts at WDW for military veterans? Or veterans benefits like medical?

Disney's discounts are generally offered for active duty or retired military.

I would think to qualify for veteran benefits such as medical and such, I believe a DD214 is required. I know my mom recently had to locate my dad's for his funeral. This is a website that might help: http://va.org/determine-your-veteran-status/

For other discounts -- travel or local stores, etc. -- the proof may vary. Likely his driver's license will do but I'd check with the specific business.

If you are a veteran and register at the Magic Kingdom in the morning, you can be chosen to do the flag lowering ceremony on main street. It's a really neat ceremony, with a photographer, and the veteran is given a certificate after.

As retired military, your family is still eligible to stay at shades of green also.

Happy retirement!!!

As other's have pointed out a little more info. as to what you are asking is needed. If he is a veteran but not retired and you are asking about Disney benefits, there are none. If he is retired, there are often room discounts and ticket discounts and some tours will give discounts. If he is a veteran and you are asking just in general in the real world, he needs to apply at the VA then he is eligible for free health care at the VA clinics and hospitals and in some cases, if there is neither near you or he needs specialized services they don't offer, he will be able to go to a private facility. Stores and restaurants in lots of areas also give discounts to retired or active military. He would be able to get a veterans license plate for his car, which is no cost for renewing (or a min. of $20 in some states) and he can get a veterans drivers license, which I believe is lifetime and he won't have to take a test if you move to another state.

Your Veteran spouse can contact his nearest VA if he is unsure of his Veteran benefits. The VA website is also very useful.

If you are looking for discounts for Veterans offered by Disney that is a different topic. Information is also available online.

I also have the Veteran star on my FL drivers license. :)

Where does one register at? I haven't heard of this, could you point me in the right direction? I've looked at a lot of info and somehow missed this. I'm betting dh would like to do it.

Most of the Disney discounts you have to be either retired or active duty.

The biggest question I keep seeing in regards to the armed services salute, is that people don't seem to understand that you (or person purchasing the tickets from their local base) must be a 100% disabled veteran to qualify. Lower percentages do not qualify.

Those tickets are not sold in the park and must be activated by the veteran prior to park entry at any park or DS guest services station.

There are discounts for EVCs rented out in town as well as some places at DS that offer small discounts for all military personnel, retired or active duty.
