Hello. Will be there for three nights prior to a business trip. I was reading some posts and people were referring to CCI and GCH hotels. Can someone please let me know what those two are?

I'm a hotel snob (well, sort of )....but I'm looking for inexpensive, withing close range to entrance and also I need hotel parking since I"ll have a rental.

Thanks!!!

CCI = Candy Cane Inn

GCH = Grand Californian Hotel

Check out the properties across the street on Harbor Blvd. for both inexpensive and close.

Are there inexpensive hotels for "hotel snobs" within walking distance of DLR?

I think Howard Johnsons would be the closest to what you are looking for since it is an actual HOtel with indoor corridors. The rest are MOtels with outside access to your rooms. However, I am a hotel snob as well and I LOVE the Candy Cane Inn. It's NOT your usual motel. The grounds are gorgeous; you'd swear you were in Hawaii as it is so covered in hanging baskets of flowers allllll around the ENTIRE building and lush gardens lining the pool and check in building. It has a charming cobblestone parking lot and many of the rooms have been redone and have hardwood floors (possibly fake wood, I've only been in carpeted rooms) and they all have nice plantation shutters on the large window. The shower and tub are separate from the counter and sink for ease of getting ready. I've only stayed in standard rooms and they aren't huge, but they are big enough for my family of four. They do offer two other categories of rooms that are both larger, including a premium room where they will bring you your breakfast and turn down your beds. There is a mini fridge, coffee maker, iron/ironing board, a safe, and of course TV. The wood is light, the bedding is super comfy and is the typical white duvet with just a pop of color with a throw at the end. The staff is lovely, there is free parking and free breakfast, and there are three convenience stores right next door for bottled water, sunscreen, aspirin, snacks, whatever. However you would have no clue these stores are there because you are in the flowering bubble of Candy Cane where all you see are flowers, flowers, flowers. The hotel has a tiny gift shop as well. Big plus is it has a free shuttle that runs every half hour. The walk is ten minutes down the palm tree studded path and is on the same side as Disney. In fact Candy Cane is directly in front of Cars Land in California Adventure! You can ask for a fireworks facing room if you wish and watch the fireworks from your balcony.

Grand Californian is just a dream hotel for me and will only happen if someone else pays for it! Rooms run at LEAST $400 a night, but typically are in the $600 range.

I agree CCI is a nice little oasis. Standard rooms are nothing special. But the place feels nice. I just stayed there last week solo for 2 nights. Always a pleasure.

I love CCI too. Having both free breakfast AND parking is extremely rare in the area (I’m sure it’s factored into the price but they’re always comparable to others). And the silliest little things make me happy like the all day coffee and water in the lobby and the never ending bowl of candy canes. :D

To add to my above accolades, one year we arrived and my daughter wasn't feeling well. She hadn't eaten in awhile as our first flight was late so we didn't have time between flights to eat, and when we arrived we couldn't eat at LAX either cause I was nervous about our luggage going around and around and around without us claiming it. By the time we got to the hotel she was sick to her stomach. I asked the front desk where I could quickly and easily get some bananas and juice for her and expected them to suggest the ABC store next door or a restaurant somewhere across the street. Nope, the guy said 'come with me' and he took me upstairs to where they keep all the breakfast supplies and let me take all the fruit I wanted, plus bagels, juice, and cereal back to her.

This past trip, in April, our flight was super delayed and then diverted into LAX (had planned to land at John Wayne). I was so stressed trying to change my car reservation from John Wayne and find my way driving on LA freeways for the first time (have never rented a car before, always taken Disneyland Express) that I didn't bother to call Candy Cane to tell them how delayed we were. They were expecting us around 10:30 or 11 PM and we got there at TWO THIRTY IN THE MORNING (5:30 am my time...horrible night). I had ZERO expectations that they would have saved the exact room I requested (we always request the same room as it holds sentimental value) but they did! Our specific room was still held for us and it was about the only thing that went right that day! The sweet lady at the desk asked me what kind of car I had cause I had to fill out the parking pass. I had no idea as it was pitch black when I got it and all I knew was it was a Toyota. She showed me how to look at my key and the tag would say and lo! I was driving a camry. Who knew? LOL. Anyway, they're just NICE and accommodating.
