Has anyone's dog been on this for allergies? It's often used for anxiety also, but in lower doses I believe.

Are you sure that it's amytriptyline?

Amytriptyline is an anti-depressant that is also used for sleep disorders.

What is amitriptyline? (from MSN health)
Amitriptyline is in a class of drugs called tricyclic antidepressants. Amitriptyline affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression.
Amitriptyline is used to relieve symptoms of depression such as feelings of sadness, worthlessness, or guilt; loss of interest in daily activities; changes in appetite; tiredness; sleeping too much; insomnia; and thoughts of death or suicide. Amitriptyline is also sometimes used to treat certain types of pain.

My dogs have never been on it, but it was prescribed for me before I had surgery for sleep apnea. Didn't do a thing for me.

I used it for insomnia, but after the first few nights, it didn't work at all.

My dog has been taking amityptiline for about a month now. He takes a small dose every 12 hours to help with abnormal brain activity (seizures). So far, so good.
