Has anyone here had vestibular rehab for BPPV? If so, did you find that it worked or not. I had my initial visit today and all I can say is it made me dizzier. She gave me some exercises to do at home to desensitize myself and "slosh" around the ear crystals. I don't know what else to expect. TIA

While I did not have BPPV, I did do vestibular rehabiltiation for vertigo. I found it VERY helpful. I had already been suffering for months with severe vertigo at that point and it was already lessoning, but I wished I'd been sent for it immediately. The first visit was awful though. I was used to avoiding things that triggered it, not specifically doing them.

The biggest thing for me was really identifying triggers. It helped me know what to avoid, and also what to "rehearse" in a safe time and space. It also helped me realize I didn't have to totally avoid triggers, but could learn to push through them. Since I still have slight vertigo as an apparently long term issue, it's been helpful in learning to live with it. It was really helpful in helping me learn what I can do and can't do.

If you do have BPPV, the good news is that if those crystals rearrange with the exercise, the vertigo will go away! A lot of people have great success with the positioning.

Thank you for your response. The doctor doesn't really know if it is BPPV or not. I had a VNG test done and it was positive in 3 tests. They also just did an MRI to rule out acoustic neuroma. They basically said that I have many things that don't fit into one category/diagnosis so treating it is going to be very difficult. I was just living with being dizzy for so long that I don't know how it is not to be dizzy. I hope that it gets better soon.

Are you on any meds? I mean ANY meds at all? I have vertigo but also have been dizzy and they are very different but many many people use the terms interchangably.
My vertigo is the inner ear thing but the dizzy feeling was brought on by a medication that my doctor said was "impossible". After talking to my pharmacist I found out otherwise.......stopped the meds and the dizzy went away.

Good luck with your search for a solution!

I am only on a duretic that the ENT put me on to help maybe relieve what might be Menieres disease, but other than that, no medications at all. What I don't like is the feeling after I have a major dizzy spell. It feels like it lasts all day. I find out next week the results of my MRI. It is probably nothing, but the doctor said better safe than sorry.
