I know I can take my daughter's suction and oxygen concentrator on the plane with a note from her doctors, but does anyone know how to travel with a smart vest? Its too large to carry on, but so expensive I'd be scared to check it. Has anyone flown with theravest before?

You don't need a note from a doctor to take medical equipment through airport security. You might want to review TSA rules:

You need to check with your airline regarding the oxygen concentrator; they are not allowed on all airlines.

My sister travels with my nephews all the time. They declare it as a medical bag (they have a duffle bag it "lives" in) and that is all that goes in the bag. They have had a it opened to make sure it was just medical equipment. The bag fits in the overhead compartment so they take it right on the plane. It doesn't count toward their carry on allowance.
