Very upset - might need to cancel our trip of a lifetime

So glad you're going.

Two of my children went to Aulani on their honeymoons.

One didn't leave the resort practically at all - they did couples massages and a few other things.
The other one went exploring every day.
They both had great times and keep saying they would go back in a heartbeat.

Enjoy!

Happy 1st anniversary of your 40th birthday.

Hi Amy, if it is any reassurance, I ruptured my Achilles' tendon over ten years ago, had surgery, and was back to work the next day ( tho in a cast and using a wheelie). I agree with DVCdoctor. Unless complications or other reasons, no need to cancel your trip. Have fun!

Oh wow! Thank you all so much for taking the time to post - it means so much to me having all of your support and reading your words of encouragement

I haven't been on the boards for the past few days as I've been busy arranging transport now that we are without our driver! I've arranged all of the hotel/airport transfers, arrangements to get to and from Pearl Harbor, and even a private tour of all of the main sights we'd wanted to see on Oahu on the day we move from waikiki to Aulani (Lanikai beach, Pali lookout, Kualoa ranch, byodo-in Temple, Lanikea beach, waimea bay & waimea falls).:thumbsup2

It does means that we will now have 7 full days at Aulani, without leaving the resort - but I'm hoping that's a good thing!:goodvibes

I've got a wheelchair arriving for Steve in a couple of days, so I'm hoping we will have mastered that by the time we fly out next week.;) We'll also still have his crutches, so hopefully he can switch between the two.

We are just now waiting for next tuesday, as that is when the boot is due to be fitted - thankfully Steve has been pain free until now and is going to work each day without a problem, despite the achilles being fully ruptured and no surgery being performed, so hopefully that is a good sign.::yes::

Thanks again for all of your posts - we've both really appreciated them

This is great news! I think you will have a wonderful trip. Hawaii is so special and Aulani is amazing. SO happy for you. ENJOY!

Hiya

Just thought I'd pop back on to give you all a little update, as you've all been so kind to me.

Well we've been back to the hospital yesterday and it was very good news!:thumbsup2

Steve has been given the adjustable air boot and we've been trained on how to adjust it while we are away, to ensure we are on course with the recovery schedule. They also gave us a fit to fly letter - so I have the confidence to travel without worrying if we are going to be stopped at the airport (I'm a big worrier!) - so we really couldn't have had a better outcome!:thumbsup2

Steve even walked a mile to the park in his new boot last night, and back again, so he now wants me to send back the wheelchair ive bought! I'm holding off on that decision just yet though!:goodvibes

Thanks again for all of your support - it's meant so much!:)

Good news! I would keep the wheelchair too. I imagine standing for 30 minutes could be harder on his heel than walking.
