Due to financial difficulties that our children are dealing with and some of our own we need to deal with, we've had to make the difficult choice not to close on our DVC membership. We'll lose our down payment, but that's better than having a payment we can't make and possibly losing even more if we couldn't sell for what we owe.

So.....the dream isn't gone, just postponed for a while til everyone is solidly on their feet and then we'll be back counting down the days with all the rest of you! In the meantime, enjoy the magic and save a little pixie dust for us!

But you are doing the right thing, and later, it will be much more enjoyable!! :wizard:

:grouphug: :grouphug:

I hope you will still keep hope alive and keep us company here on the boards.

I am sorry to hear but you have your priorities right. You are doing a very unselfish task and you will be rewarded in the long run.
My very best to you and your family.

I'm so sorry to hear that!!! Here's hoping that your "delay" is not too long!!

Can you buy it then sell it on the resale market. I noticed that the resale has gone up in the last few days? Even with commission this may be least then the down payment?

I am so sorry to hear that :grouphug:
But you are doing the right thing at this time, just remember that.
It will make it all the more enjoyable if you are able to do this at a later date and time. Just hang on to the dream, and here's a little pixie dust for ya. :wizard:

Sorry about the sad news. How disappointing! Is there any way around losing your deposit?

Are you buying directly through DVC?

If so, your down payment should be refunded to you (unless the rules changed recently.)

If you are buying resale, then I believe you are correct.

Sorry to hear. I hope everything gets better for you soon.

I would double check with a Real Estate Attorny that takes care of closings.

Here in North Carolina you can cancel an purchase of timeshare without penalty with in a certain time frame.

Sorry to hear that you're having to delay your DVC. Just remember that it is a delay. Good luck and I'm sure we'll be seeing you around here again soon.

We bought in 98, then reconsidered when we got home, I believe there was a two to four week window (not remembering exactly how long), but we got our deposit back and they were very nice to deal with about the whole thing. Since they we bought last summer and we are happy that the timing was right for our family this time around.
Good luck

We are in Dacula too, so you really are my neighbor. DVC or not. I am sorry for your hardships and hope it all works out for you.
It always does! Doesn't seem that way now, but it always does.

I'm so sorry to hear about your difficulties. I really hope that you'll get your down payment back, even if you're not expecting it.

Sorry that you have to cancel your purchase, and I hope that you will come out of this and become a neighbor down the road. Remember, this is just a bump, not a roadblock!
