3/1- Saturday-
Yeah!!!!! We were on the FL turnpike heading north at 6:04 am. A quick stop at Pt St Lucie and we were off again. We exited the turnpike at Osceola Parkway at 8:58 am.
By 9:30 we were at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort!!!!!!!!
What a gorgeous place! What a lobby! That fountain! That painted dome ceiling! Okay, okay..... no line at check-in. The CM checked us in very cheerfully in that sing-songy way and said that our room had been assigned, but was not yet ready.
We were hungry, so we decided to work our way over to the Pepper Market. From reading about how spread out this resort is, I was surprised to see that you could see the whole thing from any spot around the lake (except for a few building's in Ranchos).
We just loved the Pepper Market. It's not at all "food courty". You are greeted and seated. Then a waitress comes and takes your drink order and gives you your ticket. The food areas are set up like an open air market, where you can actually walk around the pods that had beautifully colored tents over the tops.
They serve your food on actual plates (ours were skillets) and at the table you have real cutlery and cloth napkins. We could identify the conventioneers only by their name tags. It was actually nice to see people dressed up. They weren't all business types, either. There was a poets convention going on and a women's health awareness conference. We also noticed that this resort was not crawling with as many kids. It was pretty quiet the whole time we were there. Anyway, the food at the Pepper market was very good! We walked around the resort a bit, and took some pictures at the Dig Site.
We decided to go to Downtown Disney for a while. Stopped at Panchito's gift shop first. We bought our resort magnet for our fridge (it's tradition) and headed out. We drove to Downtown disney. It wasn't crowded and we found a space up front . The only place that was crowded was our first stop- the Lego store.
After that we worked our way trhrough World of Disney, Team Mickey, Gourmet Pantry, Disney at Home, and Art of Disney. We got a rum runner at Cap n Jacks and headed to West side. We walked through Pleasure Island and stopped in a few shops along the way. We stopped in a few places, like the Candy Cauldron and decided to go back to CSR for a swim.
Got back to CSR about 12:30. Our room wasn't ready, but the CM got us a room in Cabanas 8B, so we took it. We had room 8560, right by the quiet pool. We put our things away, got changed and headed to the Dig site!
This pool is the best!!! Much better slide than AKL!! I love the fact that the playground is right there, along with a kiddie pool and sand play area. The hot tub is so big, so there is always room! The siesta bar also served food! Hamburgers, chicken fingers, chciken wraps, etc. It started to rain after a while, so we got some chicken fingers and took them back to the room.
DH napped and I walked all over the resort, taking pictures!!!!!
Part 2- a magical evening at the Poly!
