Thursday, Sept 23
After cancelling twice due to Frances and Ivan, I was so happy to be FINALLY going. We were supposed to leave at 4:30pm and come home Sunday morning.
I kept Ds home from school and spent the day packing and preparing to leave. Around 1pm, my mom calls and says that Jeanne is now turning and heading to Florida and that we should cancel. Okay... I hang up the phone and start crying hysterically. DS sees me and he starts crying!! I quickly wipe away my tears and reaasure him that we are still going-we may just have to come back early. Not a good way to start off a trip! At this time, Jeanne is predicted to hit where we live. Mom still doesn't want to go, but eventually decides to come.
Luc and mom arrive at our house at 4pm, just as DH is walking in the door. He quickly showers while we load stuff into the van.
We live five minutes from the FL turnpike and we are on the turnpike at 4:32pm. We stopped after two hours to eat dinner (Miami Subs and BK at the turnpike rest stop) and about 30 minutes later, we're off again. We get off the turnpike at Osceola Parkway at 7:56pm and arrive at POFQ at 8:20. We made very good time.
Our last trip was at the BC, so this our first time back at a mod in a while. This place was too cute!!! I was worried that I really would not like it. I was so wrong. There was no line at check-in. we were given two connecting rooms in building 4. We had a nice rate of $79 (Fl Resident).
We moved our car to the bldg. 4 parking lot and brought up our bags. We had rooms 4247 and 4248. DH and DS decided to hit the pool , while mom , Luc, and I walked around the resort. Went right to the gift shop and bought my resort magnet, Boo and Jiminy Cricket charms for my charm bracelet. Then we went to check ou the food court. Guess waht we got ? The beignets of course! They were yummy and NOT AT ALL greasy. My mom bought a box of the mix. We all made it to bed around 10pm. Mom was still watching the news. We decided to have a great day tomorrow and then figure out what to do.
Friday, September 24th
Our plan this morning was to hit the Magic Kingdom. While we dressed, Dh went down to the food court to get breakfast. FYI-The food court does not open until 7am. The only thing that is open at 6am is the bakery. After eating breakfast, we all headed down to the bus stop, which was steps from our building. We only had to wait about five minutes for a bus to the MK. Our bus driver was SO FUNNY!!!!! He made us play this trivia game all the way there. Saw glimpses of the WL as we passed ... (sigh). It only took a few minutes and we were at the MK. There were already letting people into the middle area to watch the opening show. It was not crowded adn we were able to stand right up front. After the show was over and the rope dropped, I went to get a stroller and met up with my group at Tony's. We strolled (for the first time ever) up Main Street and stopped to listen to the Barbershop Quartet. Headed right to Buzz after that. My mom scored a 999,999. Huh????? Almost made it passed the speedway...almost. Luc said, "Hey, let's go on that!" So, we went on... Fantasyland was not too busy. We waited five minutes for Pooh, walked on to snow white, walked into Philharmagic...Peter Pan was ill today according to the CM's who were waving everyone by, so off the Haunted Mansion. We didn't have to wait at all. Walked right in. We strolled throguh Liberty square , got some popcorn, and headed over to Frontierland. We all rode Splash, except mom and then Luc and DS rode Thunder Mountain. Both had very shorts waits (about 5 minutes). I could not find DH for a few minutes. Well, when I found him, he was finishing off a Premium Mickey Bar! After that, we rode Pirates and then decided to go check-in for our PS at Cinderellla's Royal Table for lunch. Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother were both in the lobby for pictures. This lunch was divine!!!! I had the chicken, DH had the shrimp and chicken with pasta, mom had the prime rib and Luc had the pie. Marcus' wasn't that great. If we come here again, I will order the prime rib and we can share. After lunch we headed slowly out of the park (about 1:30), stopping at the candy store. We did not wait long for a bus and were back at POFQ in no time.
