Looking for help...Our DS will be 11 when we go back in April..He is EXTREMLY picky about what he eats and refuses to try new things. Are restaurants like Ohanas or Brown Derby going to give us a hard time if he orders off the kids menu? I hate to miss out eating there...ty:goodvibes

No one will give you a hard time. I have sometimes ordered from the kid's menu. You can also get a kid's menu item at an adult size portion. We do this for our autistic son at times.

Just realize that at all you can eat places and buffets he will still be charged the adult price. This means, even if he doesn't eat the food offerings at 'Ohana, he will still be charged as an adult.

They will give him a larger kid's meal though. We ordered two hot dogs and fries for our son.

For our picky 10year old son, we paid OOP for his kids meals and saved his credits for us to use later in the trip. I paid an adult price for his DDP, so we were able to get adult meals this way. Everyone wins!

(Of course, we used his credits at Ohana and CM)

Does this mean that he will be charged 32 dollars for a hot dog and fries at Ohana? He wont eat any of the offerings there..(I wish he would try new things but he just wont..) The 10 things that he will eat are just plain food.I would not mind paying up to 20 dollars for a hot dog but 32 seems just too much.. Thanks for your help.. This is the one restaurant that I want to eat at so bad..

I forgot to mention that we are not on a dining plan so its not like we are just using a credit..

Have you considered letting him go to one of the kids clubs for a few hours (they take kids ages 3-12) so you can have an adults only dinner? Just a thought.

Yes, unfortunately it means you'll be paying $32 for a hot dog. That's why we don't go to the buffets anymore. My two girls just don't eat enough. We have paid $30+ dollars at Crystal Palace for breakfast for my daughter to have a piece of fruit and some bacon. You have to weigh the pros and cons.

We are in the same boat. My DS10 won't eat that much and it is all kid meal stuff. I booked free dining but staying at POP so I upgraded it but now thinking I should change it back to counter service. My kids like Chef Mickeys and 50's Prime Time but thinking it would be cheaper to pay full price for those then spend the extra to increase to the standard DDP. My DD's 13 & 16 are not big eaters either but at least they will order off the adult menues.

If your child is over the age of 10, then he is an adult. This means he would be charged as an adult at set price all you can eat places and buffets. Disney isn't going to have someone stand there and make sure he doesn't eat the other food, so they have to make the cut off somewhere.

If your child doesn't eat a lot or is really picky, then all you can eat places and buffets might not be the best choice.

My DH is in the military and travels very often, so when we have the opportunity to spend time as a family we want to do just that.. (Awesome Food or not..) LOL We also are taking a 4 day cruise prior to our 7 days at Disney and we are going to spend 2 hours in the Spa together. (Hubby and I) I guess its going to have to be a 32.00 hot dog for the sake of me eating at Ohanas..;)
