DH and I have been off Birth Control but not activley trying to get pregnent for the past 2 years. We had our first dd almost 5 years ago now and we would like to add to our family and start "activley" trying in the fall. But I am nervous. During my first C section the doctor told me that my uterus had torn into a "y". And they sewed it up. Fine and dandy. But now i am concerned that the scaring from this will keep me from getting pregnant again. Or keep me from holding a baby to full turm in the future. Can anyone here relate? Or have any advice for me? I have a doctors appt. but its not for another couple of weeks and this anticipation is killing me. So just wondering if any of my good friends here at the Family board have any advice or knowledge they can share???

I think the best advice is to talk to your doctor, even though the wait is hard. Every person is unique, but I would want to think that if you were going to have those problems then you would have been prewarned.

I don't know about the being torn in a "Y" thing, but I do know I had a C-section with first baby. Everyone and their brother told me each other child would probably be a C-section. I went on to have 3 other children, all ******l births and never had a problem carrying them.

I know it's hard but I think you will get more knowledgable answers once you talk to the Dr.

oh, and I wish you the best of luck!!

hugs, Deb

I do believe that if it would have been a problem your doctor would have spoken with you. When I had my 4th child the doctor noticed a sizable hole inside my uterus*he had not done the previous c-section. He told me several times that I COULD NOT get pregnant again. That my uterus wouldn't hold. But when I said he told me several times- I mean I heard it in the hospital about a dozen times then in my follow up visits he made me swear that I wouldn't get pregnant.....So I would speak to your doctor but I do believe that if it would be a risk he/she would have spelled it out a little more clearly than he/she

This sounds just like me. When we had DD#3 and our 3rd C-Section I went into labour 3 weeks early. My doctor noticed substantial bruising on my uterus and told me I was in the stages of having a uterine rupture (she was telling me this as they were doing the section). She told me right then and there about 5 times "YOU CAN NEVER GET PREGNANT AGAIN". She was VERY VERY adamant I have my tubes tied right then. She explained that if I were to get pregnant again there's a good chance I would have a rupture that could result in the death of the baby, myself or both..the risk were just too high. DH and I had previously talked about him having a Vasectomy rather than me having my tubes tied (due to family history of complications). We told her he would have the procedure in a few weeks - she pretty much MADE us promise. Three weeks later he did.

My advice would be to get the professional opinion of your physician. That's the only way to be 100% safe.

Good luck!

I had a friend a few years back who had this same problem. She did, in fact, have another baby succesfully, but she had another c-section rather than a regular birth to prevent issues during delivery.

I imagine every situation is unique, so don't give up hope. It's a good plan to discuss your concerns with your doc before moving ahead. And don't forget to start taking folic acid ahead of time!

5 kids first 2 regular last 3 c-sections. I think recovery is longer after each one, but that is just me. Doctor told me that2nd and 3rd c-sections take longer to do because they have to cut through the scar tissue.

GOOD LUCK:thumbsup2

I've had 3 c-sections (only the 3rd planned since it is obvious I cannot deliver normally) and are actively trying for the 4th baby now. While I cannot deliver & have bad pregnancies, it is in no way related to my c-sections. I've healed wonderfully from that, and only your OB can tell you if you'll be fine.

If it does make you feel any better, I've had a friend whose utterus ruptured during child birth. She was told to wait at least 2 years before trying for another baby. But, she was able to get pregnant again, and carry full term. The only thing with her, is it HAD to be a c-section because of the previous tears in her uterus.

I agree with the other ladies, talk to your doctor.

My doc said the same thing during my last c-section, NO MORE babies!:sad2:

He spelled it out right there and then showed DH my VERY thin uterus that you could see our son through the uterine wall.

I would think your doc would have mentioned it if there were to be problems, but still it is a good idea to make sure everything is in working order and you get a big old green light to TTC.

Good luck to you!pixiedust:
