Very minor fender bender accident advice needed.......

Where I live, police won't come out for a minor fender bender.

What's worse is they won't write a report unless both drivers are present. My daughter recently faced that when someone hit her parked car and left. Interestingly by the time it all wound up a week later the police did start writing the report without my daughter present when the other driver arrived at the police station first for their meeting and admitted being at fault. If a neighbor on that street hadn't seen it happen, stopped the driver and gotten her info. the entire burden would have been on my daughter and her insurance rates would have gone up for an accident she had absolutely no responsibility for.

Just went through this. A guy hit me from behind. It didn't look like anything but it turned out to be $6000 worth of damage. My bumper had a little dent on it but my whole lift gate was cracked and there was some damage underneath. So what may look like nothing, which I thought also was something. Definately go through insurance

My daughter didn't get contacted by a single lawyer two months ago when someone hit her parked car and took off.

Sure, because there's nothing in it for them in that scenario. In a rear end accident where all parties are present, like OP has, there's money for them to make.

Police will write a report if all parties aren't present....it really depends on the circumstances and jurisdiction.

I’ve had someone cut a corner too short and clip my front fender. I’ve been broad-sided by a drunk driver. I’ve been rear-ended a couple of times. I’ve been broad-sided by an elderly man who asked me to use his garage so he could pay cash and when I brought the car in, the garage guy said “Again? Last week he hit a police car”. I’ve been back over by an 18 wheel flatbed on a highway exit ramp.
Remind me, Patty, if I am ever out your way, not to take a ride with you. :car: :faint:
