Very Mickey Christmas

Any tips on when tickets become available and how to buy them? Any other advice?

I am thinking about surprising my husband with a Thanksgiving weekend trip. I know it will be crowded, but if we can attend the evening event, I think it will be worth it.

Some people have been told early May, some specific days like May 1 or May 2. Right now, I don't think CMs know for sure.

You can buy them by calling 407 WDISNEY and ordering them over the phone or going to Disney.com and ordering them there.

Sell outs can happen, but generally it's the Friday nights as the locals come out as well, and usually it's the Fridays closer to Xmas, but with Thanksgiving week, you never can tell.

Do they empty the park prior to the xmas party? A friend of mine is going this year and was wondering about the logistics of it. Just curious....

We went to MVMCP last year on Tuesday, December 2nd. It didn't seem crowded at all, and we purchased our tickets the day before at the MK.

We were able to enter the park after 4 pm with just the event tickets (no park hopper). We got there at about 4:30 and had dinner at the Crystal Palace. If you are interested in a character meal, this is a great way to start the evening. All attendees got a bracelet to wear. They didn't clear the park of everyone, just cleared it of people not wearing the bracelets. The park closed at 6 pm, and MVMCP officially started at 7 pm. After our dinner (about 6:40) we went and had a seat in front of the castle for one of the Christmas shows.

One last thing - if you have small kids, stroller rental is free at MVMCP. We got a nice double stroller for our kids (ages 4&6), which really came in handy when they both fell asleep at about 10:30. My hubby and I were still able to enjoy ourselves and do a little shopping while they slept. We weren't sure about the stroller so had brought one for the 4 year old, and the people at the stroller place checked it for us for the evening.

I actually called today to ask this very question, and the CM I spoke with said that she didn't have the exact date yet, but only that they would be on sale in EARLY MAY. She told me to call back in about a week.

I cannot comment on the Very Mickey Christmas, but I have to tell you how my wife and I have celebrated Christmas at WDW. Being formerly from New York, we found the MGM backlot to be a wonderful representation of old NY at Christmas time. They even decorate the streets containing the building facades (from old TV shows) with millions of lights and open them to the public. There are carolers and even 'Disney snow' (quite real looking). It was so thrilling that we stood in awe. If you find yourself at WDW at Christmas, don't miss this spectacle.

This is called the Osbourne lights...but due to the fact that they are building a new stunt car show in this area...the lights were suspended last year 2003...they are supposed to be back this year but in a different part of the park...IT is truly a wonderful sight..
