VERY cute PJ's and yay!!! for 10 days! I forgot where you got those jammies.... Your trip this weekend to the exhibit sounds so much fun!!!

Thank you. :goodvibes

The PJs are from Wal-Mart. I hope the trip to the exhibit will not be crazy insane busy. It's timed entrance so it should be ok. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about this upcoming NYC weekend!!!

I will be tweeting and will post a mini-TR when done. It'll be a fast-paced day!!

Thought I would give a quick CJ update.

It's definitely been a roller coaster for the last couple of weeks (mother & paternal family issues-ugh!) as we try to settle in on routines, proper manners and retain family services. The services have not come through as timely as hoped. No wonder parents give up; it is really a trial in persistance to get the servics CJ needs. It's quite a sad commentary on the "Children First"-type slogans I see on department letterheads and political campaigns. Either he is "too old" or "not bad enough". *sigh* The whole point is to make him better, not worse. Anyway, slowly we turn and we are seeing some help.

CJ has really learned to keep himself steady on the face of upsetting news to him and I'm so proud!!

For example, tonight, one of the services was to pick him up and bring him to a basketball game. It's part of his "Social Skills" program we were able to get him into. He was so excited he got up at 5:15am this morning and was bragging about it all day.
Sadly, the bus never came to pick him up and the program forgot him. Now, for a child, that is pretty unsettling, but for a special child like CJ, it can cause a complete meltdown as he would immdiately feel "unwanted". He did start going into a panic, but he did listen when told to take a deep breathe and if the bus didn't show up in 10 minutes, we would go to Plan B and drive him to the game. He was able to process and learn there are other way to solve a problem. He did not have a complete meltdown.

3 months ago, he would have since his mom would not have driven him to the game. As such, this is all he knew. And now, he knows different. My sis drov him to the game and he had a wonderful time and came hom tired and happy!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes So proud of him!!!!

Also, this past weekend, we finally got CJ bunch of new footwear (sneaker, casual, and snow boots) and his first "party" outfit. He was invited to a friend's bat mitzvah and he's super excited. He wanted to wear gray slacks, picked out a gray/black/white striped button shirt and tie. He allowed me to pick out a maroon sweater to match. He doesn't think it matched, but he said I could. :lmao: He did well with the constant changing into clothes and footwear and didn't complain. And he even put them away in his closet without me bugging him. :yay:

12 DAYS!!! :cool1: I need to get on my own packing list!!! We are all getting SOOOO close!!!

I gotta go and hit up my PTRs! I'm getting behind!

Wow! You have just two weeks until your trip! How exciting! I liked reading about your NYC trip! I have training in NYC in February, so I can't wait to go see the Tim Burton exhibit then! It looks like you are making headway with your trip preparations! ;) Very cute Disneyland gifts!

Thank you! :goodvibes

I'll dfinitely be tweeting and then writing up another mini-TR about it too.

I love hearing about CJ :goodvibes I feel proud for him (and the work your sister and you are doing) every time you come back with a new update! I am so glad the disaster was averted and he was able to breath and realize that there was another way to get to the game.

Hug that boy, would ya! :goodvibes

Thank you :goodvibes  I know it's not Disney or even Disney-related, so I appreciate it.

He really is such a good, warm-hearted kid. If he is misbehaving or having a really bad meltdown day, there is usually a very significant reason behind it. It's never just because. I try to remember that and keep my frustration levels down.

Never in my childhood, was I worried about my safety, security or the absolute love of my parents & family. For CJ, he worries and my heart breaks. No child should worry about these things; it should be taken completely and totally for granted. Hopefully, in the last few months & years ahead, he will not have to. This is my promise.

You're a great auntie! :goodvibes

So, I was catching up on everyone's PTR. Yes, I'm at work but it's Thanksgiving Eve and all my immediate work is finished. ;)

I was reading Nic's (nic100308) PTR and saw her "Thank you" cards to CMs. I think it's a great idea and have heard/seen about them (DisneyGirlinNJ's PTR), but I don't think I have enough time to do something now. In the middle of reading her post, I'm thinking, I can probably find mini-candy canes to bring with me and then poweee! It struck me! All my mickey paint chip heads, I can give out as "thank yous"!!! That's a decent idea, right?

I still have to fully form the idea, but it's something. And it gives me the warm fuzzies. I always write a letter to compliment the people who did things right, but a little more immediate "thank you" is also nice.

From another PTR's (IfUHadWings, I think), instead of laminating the mickey heads, since I don't have a laminator handy, to use clear packing tape.

I think it may be coming together!

I will make a special one for my friend, Cris. :littleangel:

What I will remember while I'm at Disney...at a magical place during the most magical time of the year.....

I liked Nic's (nic100308) post about Disney magic alot. :wizard: Please read it, if you haven't already. :goodvibes

I'm not sure why people seem to think that magic has to be created by someone else; magic is created by what it inside you.

I realize that Disney does create a very high expectation as it is a super-duper-ultra-cool theme park and it is expensive, but people need to take it down a notch, breathe, realize it's people working behind the scenes and they are trying their best. Always remember the golden rule; treat others as you yourself would like to be treated.

Upcoming Disney stuff:
This Saturday, I am going to the special screening in NYC of "Princess & the Frog" and afterwards there is some sort of Disney party-time thing going on at a nearby theater called Ultimate Disney Experience.

Earlier in the day, I'm also heading over to Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) to see the Tim Burton exhibit. I'm don't know if there will be any "Alice in Wonderland" exhibits there.

Mayhaps, even another stop at the Disney store. :rolleyes1

I should be tweeting : http://twitter.com/MyMuse18

Ohhhh!!!
that would be an adventure to remember, I think he would LOVE it!!!

I'm sure! I know he already went with his paternal grandmother years ago, but I'm special. :goodvibes He wasn't too impressed with Great Adventure.

Here he is in his snazzy new party/holiday outfit that I described earlier:
ijr

You better!!! ;) I'd love to at least say HI. I will be bagging for the registers, I have no idea what floor. I'll try and text you if I can, once I know.

Have a great time!!!

Our MoMA entrance is at 4pm, so sometime before that. I think I'm going to walk from Penn since my gym hours have been scarce lately. And I don't want to buy yet another MetroCard since my friend has mine. LOL!!!

Oh and from th useless facts department. I made my own laundry detergent today. I hope it works. Now I got 4 gallons of the stuff. LOL!!!

Please let me know how much fun he has at the Bat Mitsva! (I butchered that spelling!)
