I am going to WDW with my husband's entire family next Thanksgiving. My husband and I were thinking about staying an additional evening with our son after everyone else leaves to go to MVMCP. I was excited because it sounded like a blast. We've been to MNSSHP and the crowds were very light I thought. But what is the story with the Christmas Party? I have read nothing but horror stories about how packed the park is. People saying they are in gridlock and unable to walk??? Hoping someone has better news on this...We'd be going the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Anyone?

We didn't have a horror story. We went the 1st week in December, 2006. We had been to 2 MNSSHP's before and knew what to expect. We don't go to the parties for just rides...we go for the shows, parades and fireworks. There are great things happening all around the park!!:goodvibes Snow on Mainstreet, A Christmas Dance party at Cosmic Ray's that I literally had to drag my son out of, and a GREAT parade with Santa Claus! We had a blast! I would give it a try if I were you:thumbsup2

We always do MVMCP the 1st week of December and have never found it to be overly crowded. We  it!!!

Make sure there is no special promotion on the night your are going. Those are the nights that get crazy busy and sell out. We went on a sold out night because DVC was offering a discount. It was miserable. WE skipped Pirate and Princesses Party because our experience was so bad :sad1: .

Yes i hear the Sundays in early December have DVC and AP holders discounts and the Fridays are busy with locals. Tues and Thursdays are suppose to be the ideal nights to go. But the closer to Xmas, i am sure all nights might be sold out.

We went to the 2nd to last party last year and it was very crowded. I wouldn't do it again. I would consider it earlier in December because a lot of people (including on this thread ;)) have enjoyed those particular parties.

I've never been to the Christmas party - we're going on Dec. 9th, so I can't comment on crowds. However, I'd say "do it" for entirely selfish reasons. If you're going to be with your dh's family the entire time, I'd want some alone time just with my dh and son. This would be a nice surprise for the trip.
