Very Merry Christmas Party ADVICE, PLEASE

Hi! WE are going to the Very merry christmas party in Nov and was wondering if people could give some advice on different aspects of it. WE plan on getting in Orlando and to our hotel right before it starts, so we are heading over right away and will need to eat. Where are some places that are good and not crowded? Also, can anyone say of Tony's is a good place to eat and watch the parade? Which parade is best to see and from where? Anyone also happen to know times for any of the activities this year? Any other advice or inside tips would be appreciated!

I can't help with the eating and watching the parade but I'll tell you what we did last year and everyone enjoyed it totally. There was me DW, DS11, DD10 and DD2.

We got there around opening and my wife and the 2 older kids staked out a place to watch the parade from main street. They wanted to make sure they were right up front which was awsome for DD2. While they hung out and "saved" their spot DD2 and I walked around the shops on Main Street USA, visited the castle and got an awsome pic by Disney of the 2 of us in front of the castle with Tink in our hands. DD2 and I went and got cookies and coacoa. Then headed back and watched the parade. After the parade we headed to Fanatasyland for the dance party. This was awesome because DD2 fell in love with Chip and Dale during the trip and they were some of the characters that came out to dance with the kids. This was not very crowded and the kids spent quite a while dancing with lots of characters and interacting with them a way they don't get the chance to when getting signatures with a line of people behind them waiting to do the same.

We rode Dumbo and a few other rides (teacups about 5 times, raceway, space mountain) on our way around to watch Mickey's Xmas Carol in Tomorrowland. We got in the theater about 20 minutes before the last showing of the evening. DD2 fell asleep during the show. We left after the show. We took our time walking out because it was our last day at WDW (we had checked into Nick Hotel that morning) and didn't know when we were going to be back.

You'll love it no matter what you end up doing. Just remember that you'll never get to see/do everything they're going to have going on. You'll get a schedule of everything when you arrive at MK. Just pick the things you know you want to do then take your time and enjoy it. It was the most magical time I had during our week long stay at WDW because we weren't rushing and weren't dealing with a lot of crowds. Who knew just strooling around MK with your baby girl with no plan to get somewhere to do something would be so wonderful?!!

You will have to have Advance Dining Reservations to be able to get into Tony's or any of the other table service restaurant before the party -- many, many people like to go to the park before the party officially starts and eat before the parade. Honestly, you might not be able to get a reservation now because people make their reservations months in advance, but I would definitely call right away if it's something you really want to do.

Your other options are to eat at your hotel or do counter service at the park. In the past, restaurant options were limited during the party -- I know Cosmic Ray's was open, but I don't remember if anything else was. If you go before they close the MK to the party, you'll have the usual choice of restaurants.

If you decide to go for a ADR, i recomend LTT. The characters are decked out in Christmas atire and the food is warm and cozy.It was the perfect way to start our party.

Dont know how old your children are, ours boys are 15, 18, & 20 so they can stay up late without danger of going into the whine mode (we leave that for dad)

We've gone the past two years. We try to arrive by 4:30pm so we can do one or two rides before the park closes we have had PS at Liberty Tree Tavern for right around 5;30 - 6pm.

Usually when we are done eating the party is ready to start. We try to catch the shows they have thru-out the park between rides then head to the front of the castle with the 1000 other people to watch the fireworks afterwhich we fine a spot away from the castle to watch the second parade.

DS#2 loves the free cookies and hot chocolate.

We Take our time leaving, watching the final show at the castle at the end of the night and usually stroll out of the MK about 12:45am by that time the crowd has thinned quite a bit.

Your love this event, we all have those Disney santa stocking hats that we wear the whole thign just really puts you in the mood for the holidays

We are going to this too. It will be our last night at Disney when we go so it will be a wonderful way to kick off the Christmas Season. We are going on the 12th and leaving on the 13th at 7pm so we will leave DW at 5pm to go to the airport. I will pack the night before so we can sleep in a bit and check out at 11am. Where did you buy the DW stocking hats? I would love to get 2.
