Very Long Signatures

Some months ago rules were put in place to limit the amount of clip art and the size of that clip art in people's signatures. This was mostly for the folks who have a slow connection and cannot wait for tons of clip art to load. Also, it made it very hard to read the boards because some of the signatures went on forever.

Unfortunately, some poster's signatures are still very long. I just read a thread where the person's signature was 27 lines long . Their post was a mere 4 lines long, including blank lines :). The combination of the post and the signature took up my entire 19" screen. I find it annoying to have to scroll and scroll and scroll to get past some signatures.

Has someone thought about limiting the length of signatures?

I can't speak to the board rules or policies but if you wish you can disable signatures entirely.

Go to Edit Options and select "No" for Show user's signatures in their posts? This will turn off all signatures and should speed up your viewing. Selecting "No" to Show image attachments and &#91img] code in Posts? will keep from loading images that are in posts as well. A link will be there in it's place and if you wish to see the image, you can click on the link.

Thanks Bob. I know how to disable signatures since I do it when I read these boards from my laptop in hotels. Talk about a slow connection! I also disable clipart while I'm at it.

I don't want to disable signatures. I actually happen to like them and the clipart that goes with them. In moderation :D.

I feel your pain, Robin. It annoys me too. I don't think there are any plans in the works to limit sig length.

Hello all,

Just replying here to check my signature length against the others here. Looking to see if I am one of the offenders of this issue.

Thanks!

glad to hear that, although if I can find a good free site that allows linking, I will have an image in my signature as well, but it is not a big one, probably smaller than the images in both of yours. so I guess I will keep my signature, (for now) untill it gets too long with trips, I will be going more often, now that I just bought into DVC!!
