Very late check-in???

We arriving at OKW this Thursday night/Friday morning at about 1am. I am worried that with the new room assignment system we will get the worst possible room available. I have requested to be in buildings 11-14. Anyone have any experience checking in this late?

I don't have experience with this, no. But, it seems likely that lots of people will be checking out Friday, so you could request a room change then if you're not happy. However, there would be a fee for this, I think.

I think you can expect the bottom of the barrel then if it's OK, even better. A better choice might have been to stay off site that first night then check in at a normal time or even early the next day.

I agree with Dean. Why pay the points for a few hours sleep. I would pick an off site hotel (Cheap) and crash for the night. Then be up bright and early to check in Friday morning. You will save $$, giet a great location and enjoy your trip more.

We checked in at OKW last Sunday night around 8:00pm. I had requested non-smoking, first floor, water view. We got second floor in building 40. No first floors left. I don't think building 40 was a great location, it's near the road and bus turn. Building 41 was very close, we got to watch the smokers out on their porches. There was a nice pond view though. So I think by checking in late we did get the leftovers.

Alot of DVC members check-out on Friday morning. I think you would have a much better chance on Friday getting your requested location. Near the HH is a popular request, even if you checked in earlier on Thursday you might not get it. If you don't like what you get, I would do as JudyS suggested, pay the cleaning fee to move. Cancelling the points room and staying elsewhere would put the points into a holding account.

We are arriving thursday night too - but earlier - around 6:30pm. I was wondering the same thing about getting the leftovers.

Most times we check in around midnight and have never gotten a bad room at OKW. We usually check in on a Thurs. or Fri.

Had one experience that may help. Find out where the room is as exactly as possible before you leave the front desk. If you don't like the location, say something! I checked in late one time, and didn't want the room they assigned me, only because it was first floor and as a woman traveling alone I really wanted an upper floor. Very nicely I asked the CM if there was PLEASE anything upper floor available. Well, she looked on the computer and found me another room, saying "Hmmm! This one has a nicer view, too. I wonder why it wasn't assigned to you in the first place?" Sometimes there's another room available-people didn't show up or something.

arrive late from Ireland and have on all but one occasion received our rom requests.
Let them know in advance of your late arrival.
Rooms in busy times are still preassigned.
