I am so sorry, Kelsie, that this has happened to you! Honestly, I hardly know you because I am still new to the site (which is great, by the way), but I can't imagine someone with such a positively known reputation to do what everyone has already described. How horrible!

I watched the pic and maybe the l is a I and that make it look the same

Does anyone know what font VMK uses? We could do a test run with both the lowercase l and the uppercase I to see if they match... I know many, many years ago when I was a tween on AOL, I pulled this trick. I originally wanted my screen name to be Tropicool, but since that was already taken, I opted for TropicooI.

Actually, it appears to be a capital "I" to make it look like a lowercase "L."

If Kelsie is on your friends list, alternating the lowercase l with the uppercase I would explain why you couldn't type her title... Hmm.

Yes, it all depends on the appearance of the font, really.

For example:

Arial
diskelco - lowercase l
diskeIco - uppercase I

However, it does not appear that way in the default font this board uses, which is Verdana. (diskelco and diskeIco - the difference is noticeable)

But I am not sure which font VMK uses...

From what I have noticed VMK does not allow numbers in titles of our characters so that should rule out the 1 or a 0 (zero).

I can't believe that someone actually thinks that they can get away with something like this. I don't know you but anyone who knows DIS people should realize that we would find out and that they will get caught. Sad to see that identity theft is now reaching levels like this

EDIT : oh and since I am sure we all have used a capital I as a 1 at some point in VMK that is the choice that makes most since because it does look exactly like a l (L)

well, i dont know if this applies to webmasterkelsie, but there is someone out there who is HACKING into people's accounts. i dont know how. she signed on into her account, stole ALL my friends' items, including her inferno, stitch hat, and sparrow suit. the person changed her password AND switched all her items into another account. this all happened 2 days ago. that person ( and i KNOW who) came up to her and laughed in her face saying that it was her. my friend came up to me in a totally new account today and told me everything. well, this is just a warning to everone! i know who she is, but i dont know if i can reaveal her name on the boards.

Wow with all that I read this person needs to be caught and not only banned for life but charged with slander. This is very serious though it is only a game it also affects a real persons reputation. I am just shocked at this behavior and hope VMK puts a stop to this immediately. Should not take them long to type in a character name and see there are two very similiar.

And it's also a little sick, impersonating a person. Remember when that girl tried to pretend she was GBshorts? She chose a very similar name and dressed like her and everything - it was so odd.

I will keep my eyes open for this imposter, and report her at once if I spot her. Good luck clearing this up - I hope it is resolved quickly.

I was just thinking of that too. That was strange, but it was more of a stalking issue (if I remember right). I think this is more of an extortion scam.

I'm sure the VMK staff will sort this all out. I doubt anyone here would think it was you acting that way.
