We would like to stay off WDW property for our 1st night

Planning on renting a DVC for 9 nights
ALK or BW standard studio

Coming into MCO at 9 PM
So by the time we get our luggage and to some hotel it will be about
11 PM, maybe later. Why pay for a DVC studio, just to sleep the 1st night?

But we will pay for a taxi to the 1st night resort and a taxi from the 1st night resort to the DVC studio.
When we get to the DVC resort, we can drop off our bags around 11 am and start our WDW time in the parks nice and refreshed.
Go back to the DVC resort around 6 PM or later and find our studio room.

Which hotel has the best rating and is between MCO and WDW ?

What I found, but feel free to suggest another hotel, since you know the area better than us or have done the same as we wish to do...

Best Western Disney Springs
Hoilday Inn Disney Springs
Polynesian Isles by Diamond Resorts, Kisimmee
Hampton Inn Orlando/Lake Buena Vista
Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Lake Buena Vista
Hyatt Place Orlando/Lake Buena Vista
Radisson Hotel Orlando/Lake Buena Vista
Other off site hotel?

I've used the Hampton for the very same reason often.

Holiday Inn Disney Springs has fans @writerguyfl can chime in some.

I also like Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista SOUTH, Hampton Inn LBV South, Hilton Garden Inn LBV, Doubletree Suites DS and B Resort.

When we've been in this position, we've stayed at the Comfort Suites Orlando Airport. It was nice and inexpensive.

Have you looked at the Hyatt at MCO? It's in the airport so you don't have to go anywhere. You can spend the night there and then take DME the next morning, if that is of interest to you (saves on the taxis).

We did that in November when we had a later flight, worked out fine. Might be a bit more expensive than the options you list above, but not sure?

I would do the Hyatt if you can also, in the airport. You can get dinner and be in your room quickly. Then use Magical Express as early as you want, and check in, drop your bags, and go.

The Hyatt sounds like the way to go
But how do we do DME ?
Our plane would have landed the night before and then we go to the DME bus area with our luggage.
Will they still let us on the DME bus and place our luggage under the bus?

Do we call DME before our vacation and explain our plans to take the bus from the airport, but our plane landed the night before?

How early do the DME buses run?

Could we get a bus around 9 am?
Maybe not too busy at that time?

Thank you !

Just put in a dummy flight arriving the next morning early.

Yes, retrieve your luggage, go to your room, then I'd get up very early and bring your luggage with you. They will stow it under the bus (lots of folks do this, myself included once when we just had carry on wheeled bags). I always tip a couple dollars when we arrive at the resort for the luggage assistance.

DME busses run quite early - they start at 5:00 am.

OP, just to further emphasize @happymommy's post, you do not want to use the yellow bag tags that DME will send you, you are going to want to get your luggage yourself that night. Then just carry it down with you the DME the next morning. You can toss the yellow tags when they come.

As HopperFan notes, I do like the Holiday Inn at Disney Springs. It's a very solid property with nice rooms and an above-average staff. I'd certainly recommend it.

That said, I do agree with the consensus that your best move would be to stay at an airport hotel for a 9pm arrival. I have stayed at the MCO Hyatt. It is wildly convenient and also a solid hotel. In my experience, it also can be expensive.

Depending on prices, it might be worth the extra hassle to stay at an airport-area hotel that offers free shuttle service to/from the airport. There are a number of major chain hotels just north of the airport. If the Hyatt is sold out or too expensive, choosing one of those hotels is another option.
