Very First Thing?

My mom and I are planning to be there at RD on a Sunday (so EMH for CA - the official opening time for both parks is 8am). We definitely want to get FP for RSR for as early as we can, we also want to be in DL to do Fantasyland rides before lines start to build up. What do you guys think we should we do first? Grab the fast passes then go over to DL, or run around Fantasyland before grabbing the fast passes? Are FP available for DLR guests during EMH?

The last time I went with her, the RSR FP were completely out by the time we got to the parks about an hour after opening, and the standby line was 2+ hours the entire day so we didn't bother, but she's never ridden it!

From what I've read on here RSR fast passes are lasting longer now, at least till mid-morning. So I think you should be fine to do an hour or two at Fantasyland (if needed) and then head to DCA to get fast passes.

Is there a reason you need to do both RSR and Fantasyland on the same day? The best time to do each of them is first thing in the morning. Do you only have one day?

Yeah, we're just going for one day because I live in LA and she's coming to visit for a really short trip and we want to do other not-Disney stuff, too.

Would you be willing to do Single Rider for RSR?
You can do RSR rather quickly in the morning if you are willing to do SR.
Then head to Fantasyland.

Or do Disneyland until about 1030am then head to DCA and get FP for a night ride later.
This way you can do Fantasyland and a few other attractions.

If you have EMH, I would just head straight for RSR first thing and ride SB. It shouldn't take more than 20 minutes. The ride loads pretty fast. Then I would go to DL around opening. Peter Pan will have the longest wait, so you may want to get that one out of the way first. Dumbo and Alice are others I would do soon.
You may have time to hop over to DCA and get a FP for RSR for the evening...or you can do the SR line.

I would do FL first and then head to DCA right after (between 9:30 and 10:00). You would still get an RSR FP for sure but don't know what time it would be for.

Like a PP said single rider is a great option for RSR as well. Its possible you would both get on the same car or be really close to each other (usually works out that way).

If you go get FP for RSR first and then hit DL you will find lines forming for the more popular rides by the time you make it to FL. For me I like to be one of the first to FL so I can get through with as minimal a line wait as possible (and I walk on most rides if I don't have delays getting in.) But I also wouldn't worry about what time I got on RSR as long as it wasn't late at night. If you really want to do both early than you will have to sacrifice some line waiting time that you could otherwise avoid (in the morning anyway).

Are FP available for DLR guests during EMH?

They do not start to distribute FPs until the park opens to everyone. As others have said, RSR FPs are lasting quite a bit longer now. If you have the official Disneyland App, it lists the current FP return time, so you could start your day in Fantasyland and periodically check the RSR FP return times. When it gets close to the time you want or if they are starting to get to the end of the day, then you could hop and get the FP.

Since you will not have access to EE for CA, I would start in DL and do FL right at rope drop so you can make the most of the lowest lines of the day. After the first hour or so you can take your mom's ticket and run and get your RSR fps (you can watch the times on the DL app on your phone if you like) then come back to DL and maybe stay there until closer to your FP time. Once you go into a park with a ticket it is active for both parks so one of you can do the running if you like. I don't remember how long RSR fps have been lasting but it is definitely quite a bit longer than during your last visit. If you decide to get the DL app you can watch how long they last in the days before you visit.

If you rope drop at DCA just to get the fast passes for RSR, you are going to hit the massive line to get into DL. That will defeat the whole purpose of doing rope drop. I would rope drop and go straight to Fantasyland do the rides that actually matter to you and then run over to DCA for fast passes. (Actually, I would skip fantasy land altogether, but that is just me).

I have no experience with EMH because I usually go to the parks in the afternoon/evening until close, but like other posters have said, head to Fantasyland first. Peter Pan's Flight is a long wait no matter what time of the day. Then head to DCA for a fastpass to RSR. Even if you don't end up with a FP, you can always save the ride for the end of the night. If you are in line before the park closes and the CM has not cut off the line, you will still be able to ride. I find the line is not as long because most people have already gone home for the day. Same for FL rides since the fireworks are over and the younger kiddies have gone home with their parents.

We only have one day in the parks our next trip and I think we're going to try to pace ourselves better and do RSR at night.
