Very Early Meet - Aug 26, 2007 Wonder

I am thinking I am going to try Parasailing in CC if it is back up....I have never done anyhing even remotely daring before and am not crazy about the water....but really want to give it a try!

For anyone who is doing the parks after the cruise (I am).... there are strong rumors flying around that Disney will be offering free Dining Plan for those who stay on site for at least 3 days, pay rack rate for the room and buy at least a one day ticket.

This could make for pretty good savings!

Last year they started offering the free Disney dining package on April 4th (for stays between mid August - very early October). I am crossing my fingers that they do the same thing this year...

The rumors say the free dining will only be offered for stays starting on Aug 26th. So it will only be for AFTER our cruise.

Hello all,My family will be sailing with all of you. There are four of us. My wife and 2 grandchildren[4+7] and myself. This will be cruise #15,9 of those on the Wonder.Anxiously counting down the time just like the first cruise.

hi everyone - just wondering the ages of all your children going on this cruise - i have an 8 yr old daughter - 10 yr old son and 12 yr old son - wondering if anyone else is in this age group? would like to hear from you and also what your plans are while on the ship? i think we are just going to hang around mostly - Ive been to Nassau a few times - we went on a carnival short cruise a few years back and i hated it - hoping for a more enjoyable experience this time - if not - my husband will not cruise again, i assure you of that!!! Ive only cruised with the kids that one time - prior I loved cruising - so lets get me psyched for this cruise - i dont want it to be a bust - maybe the kids can find some friends to make it more enjoyable for me.........:cool1:

DS will be turning 7 on the 23rd. We're going for broke and staying at the Contemporary tower park view (ack$$$) for 4 nights before hand. We'll need whatever breaks (meal plan) we can afterwards. We were going use some of our Hilton points and stay at our time share, but I think we'll book a WDW hotel and hoard points for next year.

I think we'll be staying on the ship at Nassau and just enjoying a less crowded pool. DH and didn't care for Nassau last time, PI was wonderful and we did DD last year.

Can't wait for Pirate Night and beef tenderloin (and bananas foster and fresh cut fruit and souffles). Somebody stop me!!!

Hello everyone...just booked the dolphin swim for when we are in Nassau. Expensive but I know it will be worth it. Nassau is not a big draw for me but I always wanted to do the actual "swim with the dolphins" so we are doing that and then getting back on the ship.
I was wondering what the travel kit was too? Whatever it is I want one! lol I actually bought "Treasures of the Disney Cruise Line" from ebay. Pretty cheesy but cute and lots of clips of the ship which seeing that I have never actually seen the ship I am getting to know it quite well...between the DVD, the show I taped on the Travel Channel, my obsessive searching on the dis boards....!! In my mind I think I have already booked another cruise! Take care everyone!

The "Travel Kit" I rec'd in the mail yesterday from DCL. It was for this August Cruise what a packet that had several little bookets enclosed.

The booklets were:
  • Shore Excusions
  • Quick Tips for Smooth Sailing
  • Gifts
  • Setting Sail - Disney Wonder and
  • Vacation Protection Plan

I have not had a chance to read thru them in detail as I am a tax accountant - and I am a little busy at the moment....

But I did make time to book my room after the cruise (Coronado Springs) with free dining!

Hi Everyone:goodvibes Add three more to the list DH, me and our DS who will turn 9 on the 28th. He requested to my DH that he wanted to be on the ship for his bithday, and DH was more than happy to oblige (I sure hope he doesn't really think it was just cuz he asked).:rotfl2:

Do you get the insurance that is offered with your cruise? Why or why not? thanks, I am deciding on what to do still

We actually had to cancel our cruise in Feb. due to our flights being canceled, we did have insurance and were refunded. That was the first time we ever had insurance, we did learn that had we not had insurance we could have done a date change for $85.PP. I do not know if that was a flat rate or if it was based on our total cruise cost? I'm not sure how close to sailing date that this works, but I would check it out vs the insurance costs.

I have never bought insurance for a vacation before.

But then again this is my first DCL cruise.

I did some research on prices and Access America Family Basics insurance is only $63 for my trip (kids get insurance free)... and this is for coverage of the cruise and 5 days in WDW.

At this price... I cant not afford to buy insurance.

But I will wait until juts before final payment to buy.

Just checked this thread after signing on a few months ago.

My son will be 13 and the other 4. This will be our 3rd disney cruise. I took my oldest and my mom on a carnival cruise last november and my son wanted to do disney again. We are doing the parks after the cruise and will be our first time at WDW.

I am thinking about booking the dolphin swim in nassau, as my son as always wanted to do this.

I am sure he would like to meet some friends before the cruise.

book it on line and do the full excursion - you cant go wrong - no cruise line books the really good dolphin adventure - pay the 165 or 170 whatever it is now - downside is that you have to provide your own transportation - you wont be sorry

Coleen,

I booked the Dolphin Swim with Dolphin Encounters and on my reservation information they check you in at the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal and take you to Blue Lagoon Island at $165 per person. You had mentioned needing transportation and I am pretty sure that you don't.

My travel agent dropped off my "travel kit" on Wednesday....a nice book of ideas, checklists, etc....although I get all of my info from these boards anyways! And included was a friendly reminder of when final payment is due so I can prepare for going broke!!

you need to find you own transportation from the ship to the the paradise island ferry - that is what takes you to the dolphin swim, that is what i meant - sorry to be confusing - its a cab ride - not a big deal, just make time for it - enjoy - its totally worth it - btw - the tender took us right back to the dock of our ship, we asked them if they would so we wouldnt have to pay a cab- we of course tipped them though. ALWAYS ASK - THEY CAN SAY NO AND YOU ARE NO FURTHER BEHIND THAN YOU WERE IN THE FIRST PLACE

the web site says
"Begin your day by enjoying a relaxing 25-minute boat ride, including great views of Nassau Harbour, Paradise Island and Blue Lagoon Island. Your program will bring you in close contact with one of the Ocean's most fascinating and intelligent animals, the Bottlenose dolphin. "

But you need to get yourselves to the boat by your own means of transport - not to worry - its not too expensive - leave early enough - take it from me, i have done this and i totally think it is worth it!! it books up , dont let anyone tell you any thing else - i tried to change the time - they laughed at me :(
enjoy!!!!!
