Very Disappointed

I was lucky enough to book a cruise for the 21st December 2002.

Its only me and my DH so I offered the remaining places for other Dis'ers. It filled up quickly and the final 2 spots were filled by a lady and her soon from these very boards. I was very forthcoming with info of time changes and checked that every pm was read so I knew that they new. I even took my notebook so I could check up to the last hour in case of a problems.

Well we arrived at the Yacht and Beach Club early as we were the only ones not staying onsite. The time for meeting was 8.30pm. Everyone turned up prompt except for the lady and her son. At 9pm we sailed and I did feel guilty incase we had left her behind. But there were more than 2 people on this boat and I had shelled out for the cruise. The other 2 familes obviously paid their share but there was no way I'd expect them to cough up another $10 (they both offered) for this womans rude and selfish behaviour. Others had emailed me asking if there were any minute last cancellations they would fill them.

I did pm her asking her why. To date no explaination. I do consider this rude.

BUT.....I loved the cruise!

you must get the monies ahead of time if you share. I would not accept personal checks, either. Everyone who agreed to share the cruise had to send a money order ahead of time for their share. I included a tip automatically to everyone's share, as well. This is the only way you can assure yourself that you will be paid and the best way to make sure everyone shows up for the cruise. If they don't show up then you are not out the money. I had people lined up as back-up in the waiting if the initial groups did not comply with the above.

I explained this very carefully to all concerned and I made sure everyone understood this was rain or shine with no cancellations accepted. It is very rare that the fireworks are cancelled. Times may change a little for the cruises due to extended hours but almost always you know this schedule weeks in advance by calling Disney or visiting their website for updates.

I know the evenings were very cold at that time and I suspect the people concerned may have pooped for that reason. It isn't right but that's why you must secure monies upfront. Even if there were special circumstances like illness, etc. by having the monies upfront you are safe. If someone had to cancel ahead of time I allowed them to sell their share of the boat themselves. This did not happen but that was their option if it became necessary for them.
